Maybe not, but if he becomes one of the top shutdown wingers in the game, I take that every day of the year.

Frankly, the way this team is shaping up, a 25-25 Jere Lethinen type is going to be much more useful to us than a 35-35 offense-only forward. We've got a lot of offensive firepower, and it'll only increase as Lafreniere comes into his own.

Throw in his possession potential and you've got yourself one of those players who prevents goals by doing a tremendous job cycling in the offensive zone.

I should've clarified my earlier post. The Rangers didn't draft Kakko to wing the Selke Trophy in mind; but if he does, good for him! Would still be an asset to the team. Just that I think they had offensive production in mind.

But if he does become proficient defensively and contributes offensively like they think he can, he is only player you don't trade for anyone (besides for MacDavid, MacKinnon, etc. Lol)

Always sobering as f*** when someone in your age bracket passes way too soon.

Really feel for his young children.
The worst part outside of the unexpected passing of a parent is that the kids are going to grow up without a father. I have a three year old with #2 on the way in a matter of weeks.

My kids growing up without me and me not being able to see them grow up is an unbearable thought.

When I think about this type of stuff it literally brings me to tears...

Kevin seems like, despite his cavalier attitude, a stand up dude. I'm sure he will be around to help

As a 31 year old myself with a 9 month old daughter, I can’t even fathom this. So unbearably sad.

Firstly, terrible news about Jimmy Hayes, wow.

Second, pizza crust like a cracker without yeast and made with processed cheese? I'll pass.

Third, I haven't laughed this hard a loooong time, that fat laf one killed me!

TO be honest the players who win the Selke trophy these days are also extremely good offensive players, no one wins it while scoring 40 points. If the Rangers got a Selke quality player with Kakko that means he's scoring 70+ points going against other top players etc etc and honestly I"ll take that out of 2nd overall.

Frankly I'd rather he be a Selke candidate than score 10 more points but be considered defensively deficient

Yea it’s terrible. My father had a massive heart attack and died at 37. My mom was left with my brother 6 and I was 1. It’s sucks only having 1 parent. I still can’t believe she raised us both and are both successful people. She should have gotten a combat medal. It’s was a miracle.
I feel terrible for the Hayes family and my heart and prayers go out to them

Man this Hayes news is horrible. You almost hope there is more to this story....the thought of a 31 year old just dying out of the blue is horrifying.

Happened to a co-worker or mine this past April. 27 year old kid. Super fit. Looked like he stepped out of the Jersey Shore cast lol. Worked a full day then at some point in the evening he started having difficulty breathing. Went to the ER and his heart just stops. Freaked me the hell out because I’m almost 20 years older and about 10k cheeseburgers ahead of him.
