Speculation: Roster Building Thread - Part XXII

He's not even in need of leaning out lol.

Jovo stirred shit up with some terrible photochop and is currently sitting in his chair with his legs on his desk, hugging his framed buchnevich photo whispering to himself "Mission Accomplished"

I mean even it’s 69,000 pixels per inch, unqualified people shouldn’t be offering their physical evaluations of athletes either. :laugh:

Or if devs picked kakko instead of Hughes, which as some point was in the realm of possibility with how kakko was playing and his role to be an “ immediate impact”. What a joke that was.
the Hughes hype was just too great, at from a marketing prospective, having a USA born stud center was too great for the devils to pass up even though they already had Hirschier in the fold.
Just goes to show ya, while foreign leagues and the KHL are highly competitive, North American hockey in the NHL is a different animal.
The rink being smaller, player are bigger faster and more skilled, and the competition is better coached and has more all around talent. Not even bringing up the difference in physicality.

Yes, I think that change is going to benefit kids development immensely going forward.
Guys who spend their whole life in NA, and going thru the NA systems to the AHL and then on to eventually to NHL seem to have an easier time adapting. It’s not always the case. But more often then not it is.

I strip the Brock Nelson of the puck and play keep away like Fat Kakko himself [lol I kinda sucked in this meetup because I had just torn my ACL (although I didn’t know it was torn as they wouldn’t do an MRI at first) and became patient Zero of Covid-19 at the hospital maybe as I was sick]

Haha, that was awesome! However, perhaps the back checking wasn't always at the highest level!? ;)

Have to say, disappointed with The Athletic's coverage of the Rangers over the past two weeks. I know Carp is on vacation, but there should be alternatives. Lundqvist retires and Gilbert passes away and the last real Rangers article is 8/10. There were generic "athletic staff" short articles that read like AP news blips about both but pretty disappointing to be honest. You'd think Carp could throw something together given the importance of both but cie la vie.

LOL, in actual hockey I play center and am quite gritty & good defensively. But at these meetups I play more of a lazy Ovi role waiting at the top of the circle to tee off :laugh: because most people there don't play organized hockey and if I wanted to I could pretty much take the ball from them at will, so I don't want to be a dick and I want to let them have fun. If someone strips me of the ball most times I'll just let them go with it and don't even try to get it back, some guys are trying hard though and slashing each other (as you see I wore shin guards to one of these meetups, I had a tryout that night right after so I didn't want to get hurt) and once a guy body checked another into the fence and he separated his shoulder, we had to call an ambulance.

I really want to do an HFNYR hockey game meetup one day after the world is back to normal
