They literally share a division with 3 other Original Six teams.
the rivalries aren’t even close.

It’s not a slight travel difference for the Wings to be in the East vs the West

it was like taking Dallas out of the NFC east.
Might have been more relevant between 1942-1967. Or at least while anyone who remembers that period first hand was still alive.

They’ll be rekindled over time. Especially when the Wings are good again. The Leafs were in the Campbell and Western Conferences for a long time, separate from the Canadiens. That rivalry is doing fine.
yes, traveling to the West coast is farther while the rivalries, the fans, suffer. Com’on, most of the league travels a ton
Yeah. O6 teams will always have some sort of historic rivalry against other O6 teams. But, Detroit-Colorado, Detroit-Chicago, that was great. I know it's nice having more Detroit-Toronto but otherwise, the O6 thing is basically just a marketing angle now.Might have been more relevant between 1942-1967. But I don't think that is dependent on them being original 6 teams. And Quebecois will always hate Ontario. That's just a natural rivalry.
About as relevant as their rivalry with Toronto? How relevant is the rivalry with Colorado these days?
Out of curiosity, did you like the schedule format this year?
How relevant is the rivalry with Colorado these days?
June 24th, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day. Great time to visit Montreal. Some of the best partying on the planet. There's no place that deserves a team more than Quebec City. They even built a new stadium, the Videotron Centre, in 2015, which is very nice. It's such a beautiful and amazing city. The people there love their hockey. Part of the problem though are the economics. Quebec City doesn't have the largest population and doesn't have the most jobs or highest salaries, which means a lot of people wouldn't be able to afford to go to games often. But they would be expecting the outlying areas to travel a bit into the City for games. Lol. Those roads up there are hell in the winter though. Last time I was there, around New Years, got stuck with a snow storm, had to stay an extra 3 or 4 days, which I wasn't complaining about.
If anyone likes to travel though and has not been to Montreal and Quebec City, I would strongly suggest visiting both. The best time to go are from the "opening of the terraces" which occurs when Spring arrives and all the restaurants open their outdoor dining. They usually have a huge street party/fair in both Montreal and Quebec that entire week. Well, from the "opening of the terraces" through New Years really. Christmas there is absolutely perfect. Any time in between it's an amazing vacation spot. Quebec actually has some decent nightlife, ok clubs. lol. The old part of the city feels completely European and is worth staying in. But make sure to venture out into the rest of the city. Especially the markets. The New Grand Market is great all year long and around Christmas ,the Marche de Noel is terrific. Some really terrific little restaurants too. Laval University has a nice little bar/club also if you are younger.
Anyway, they need their team back! You can still buy Nordiques apparel all over the city and you regularly see people dawning hats and sweaters.
I would say Hartford Connecticut should get a team back too, but at this point, I think most people in CT are either Rangers or Bruins fans.

Im not expressing my feelings on the subject. This is literally the reason why the Wings (and Leafs) are in the East and why neither are going back. The Wings would block any relocation that would cause a realignment with them going back West.

We're an O6 team and I wouldn't put any other O6 team on our list of top five rivals, at least over the past few decades. Boston the closest, obviously.
saw the same teams too often but saved us from watching the Rangers vs teams i couldn’t care less about. Still, they avoid some really solid teams i think they would have struggled with. Back to normalcy, i hope. For the multiple western teams i couldn’t care less about, the Bolts and the emerging Panthers will be a much watch.
i know why they changed and know how the fans lost out on some great rivals. If Dallas left the NFC East it hurts the fans. Is Dallas vs Chicago as big a rivalry as Dallas vs NY? No

So rivalries aren’t the be-all, end-all here even for you. If it was, you’d want them to play each other all the time… familiarity is what breeds them. You should also be 100% for the divisional playoff format.
For me, I agree I’d like to see the West less and the Metro more in a normal schedule. And I love the division format and hope eventually they eliminate the WC and make it straight divisional.
In 20 years? They would be
