Edmonton seems like the most viable place to get a LHD. They got bounced early and have Klefbom, Nurse, and Jones down the left side with Broberg on the way. They basically have the same "problem" we do but on the opposite side of the ice.

Their needs seem to align well with ours as well. They need depth scoring and a goalie to challenge Koskinen.
One of their fans proposed Buchnevich for Nurse.

If Buch spent some time in the gym and gained 20 pounds of muscle, he could end up being a hell of a player.

As of now, he's too weak in puck battles to be on the top lines

Yeah I saw that thread. I think it makes some sense for both teams as a base, but I think Nurse holds more value. We know they had interest in Buch at the draft last year and still haven't solved their depth scoring issues. Athanasiou was terrible for them. I think Friedman said they were considering just letting him walk.

Friedman pretty much said that he expects the Oilers to trade from their defensive glut for some forwards. Nurse was brought up as he probably has the most value. Buch + Georgiev for Nurse makes some sense for both clubs really.

This would also probably open up the opportunity to move ADA for a young center like Lindholm

On the surface that seems reasonable. I've always like Nurse. He's been overrated by Oilers fans a bit at times but I think he would be a good addition.

Nurse is not what the Rangers need. Another D with negative impacts defensively, and we would have to end up protecting him in expansion.

Lmao... like gaining 20 lbs of muscle is easy.

Just a fyi. Miller and Kreider probably average about 1.5 pounds of muscle gain every 6 months.

Buch is in good shape. Maybe... maybe he could add 5 pounds of muscle by next season.

Either way its irrelevant because buch doesn't need to put on muscle. He needs to work on his foot speed. I'd like him to shed about 3 pounds of muscle so it can enable him to increase his stamina and increase his foot speed.

He seems to think it would likely be Larsson or Klefbom.

If people understand the player they’re getting there’s no problem. Moving Buch for any d-man isn’t going to bring back Hedman, it’s going to bring back a youngish top-4 d-man who can fill a hole on this team. Nurse is a great skater and a guy who plays a real tough in your face game. He can play big minutes but can get caught out of position at times but so can any d-man in the league. He would definitely be a move in the right direction as far as helping insulate the young players while also not breaking the bank on his next deal. All of that while making this team more difficult to play against

Trade him...

I heard that but I really don’t see teams lining up for either of those guys based on contract details (Larson) or injuries (Klefbom). The issue with Larsson as well is that the team doesn’t have another minute eater on the right side yet. At least that’s what he was saying

Buchnevich just had his best second half season of hockey for the Rangers and we want to trade him now? Let's at least wait until he's an RFA and we know his contract demands.

Secondary scoring is essential.
