I do think there is something to the idea of not playing Chytil with Panarin the season before he is up for RFA. Gotta try to limit the potential earnings somehow if we want to keep most of this core together with the cap.

One is a North South player and the other an east west, it generally doesn't work as well as 2 like minded players

I don't find their styles complimentary, and my guess is its not Quinn that has the issue with it, its likely Panarin. Nothing wrong with Chytil but he's taking the puck to the net or working it into the corner, that's his style of play and for a player like panarin who likes the give and go's, likes to play more east west its frustrating. Maybe Chytil becomes more of a playmaker but as of now he isn't and there's little reason to think Chytil on that line would make Panarin a 120 point player.
I don't think Chytil will transform Panarin. I just think maybe we should try them together for longer than a game. I am 99% certain that whatever success AP's line has will be his doing. I just don't think Strom contributed to that, but was rather a benefactor of a great.

If Chytil doesnt produce at all though, why not take a bridge? If Panarin gets his numbers up to something reasonable, then a long term solid contract becomes an option. There are just so many angles to looks at this from

He had 8 points in 10 games to start the year on a different line than panarin. He also played well for us last year. I'm not saying that spot shouldn't be upgraded but let's not pretend he's Grachev. He isn't useless without panarin, he's better with him but who isn't? I've had players who i played with that couldn't carry a line but if you put them with like thinking players they lit it up, if it works it works. If you are upgrading the 2c spot you better be really sure it's not gonna take a step back especially if you are giving up assets to do it. Kyle Turris was mentioned here by someone, that would be a gamble that would be terribly unnecessary. He has struggled since he left Ottawa, I would be really annoyed if that was the player we sought out when we had Strome meshing well with panarin already.
Why you gotta hit me with the Grachev reference, fam?

Several things we know based on the JD video:

1) They are keeping the pick and drafting Lafrenière, no question.

2) K’Andre is FIRMLY back in the plans for the future.

3) Haters gonna hate, but Howden (who I actually also thought was one of the few bright spots against Carolina, TBH) remains a management favorite.

Based on what? He blew away his previous best point totals this year, like he was on pace to shatter it. Also, something that should be noted is that this team kept chugging along when Zib went out, Strome took over the #1c spot during that stretch.

I just got a job offer in Dallas. Before I move 1300 miles, I just want to let it be known one final time that I am available to play 7 minutes a night on the 4th line and willing to get punched in the face 82 games a year.
My buddy works in tech down in Dallas/Fort Worth. From what I hear, it isnt NY but it is a major metro with a lot of stuff to do. Also no state income tax is real nice. Enjoy if you are going down there!

Yes and no, I think you can get away with it so long as there's two east-west guys.

Panarin-Chytil-Strome, for example, is soemthing I wanted to see experimented with. Strome taking the faceoffs of course.

Thanks! I already signed the offer letter and picked an apartment (5 minutes from American Airlines center, if in person hockey ever comes back). I’ll be heading down next month. No state income tax and significantly lower cost of living makes a big difference for QoL.

I think any center playing with AP will shatter their previous totals. It isnt impressive to me that Strome broke 40 points.

No shortage of haters, once someone is black listed they never let it go. Howden got blamed for Anderson not being in the lineup and they lazily blame him for everything wrong with the team and focus on any little thing he does wrong, same with Strome, same with Pionk(who was blackballed because people thought D'Angelo should get his ice time). If those two left someone else will inadvertently take ice time from someone ranger fan and we will have another target. Its silly

yea my friend lives near TCU, but he has gone to Mavs game and Stars games over the years. I personally hate the state (it is personal family reasons that I cant look past), but I know people who are doing really well down there and it seems like a booming state for business. Best of luck there!

But any center didn't......Strome did.
broke 40? I'm relatively certain a retired Prospal could have done that with Panarin on his wing. I sincerely hope my team does not pay a 30 point center like he is a 60 point player because Panarin played with him. I wouldnt be opposed to bring Strome back at his QO. I don't think there is a solution to his position in UFA rn. I do want to see what Chytil can bring with skill on his line though.

The problem with that is that the Rangers pretty much announced that they’re committed to Brett Howden, and you’d be giving up assets and cap space for Jankowski

I wouldn't have a problem playing Jankowski on the wing. He's effective there as well.

I also don't have any issue with the Rangers wanting to groom Howden, but I know that's not a popular opinion around here.

Was K’Andre rumored to have been trade bait or something?

I forgot Prospal existed, wow. Wasn't it Prospal-Christensen-Gaborik? The good ole days

Nah, at least not to my knowledge.

He is the one guy who could unseat Staal though. I guess technically they could use Smith as a spare and still play the flattened pylon.... Actually I'm pretty sure thats exactly what they will do if he does show himself to be ready.

Dammit.
