Turris @ $4m cap hit (Nashville retains $2m) for Crawley + Ronning

Turris is a bad idea, regardless of the cost. If he had 1 year left, I'd be much more amenable to the idea. With 4 years left, let him continue to be Nashville's problem.

I think we have players that Calgary might be interested in. Strome perhaps. ADA. Georgiev. I'd be willing to take a chance on Bennett. He has 1 year left at 2.55 mil. Obviously if we are trading ADA, they would have to add, but I think he's an interesting player who could potentially break out.

One thing to consider about Georgiev is that if the Rangers are high enough on Tyler Wall, a reasonable timeline could include
  • Georgiev gets traded
  • Lundqvist is backup for one season
  • Hall plays in HFD for one season
  • Lundqvist retires in 21-22
  • Hall is promoted to backup in 21-22
The only unideal thing about this timeline is Hank's salary cap next season but I'm sure the Rangers will figure something out there.

Another random stat, Ryan Strome ranked #22 in scoring for centers. Would not mind selling high there.

I just spoke with a good source. That I have not spoken with for very long. Knows the NYR organization extremely well. He personally thinks we draft Lafreniere as #1. Strome, Lias and Hajek will all likely be moved. Georgiev maybe. ADA too, if the right deal is there. Buch gets a pass Until TDL 2021. Staal likely bought Out. Hank retires (this is not my pirate source that knows These things much better). Smith might actually stay around. Got some praise actually. Our Carolina pick is in play, for sure. Lots of other possibilities - but so many variables. Going to be Lots of unexpected things happening in the cap strapped era. Gotta be cool as a cucumber . Buckle up as we enter the age of corona

So, we’re not taking Kaiden Guhle with our 1st pick?

I love that Pirate source is an actual thing.

That's the real gangster move.

Offersheet one and then hit the other with an offersheet once they match the first and have their hands tied ;)

Yeah, and lol, we can spin it pretty good too, ‘Tampa has signed [6-7?] of our players, nice to be on the other end for once”

Stralsy, Cally, Boyle, Shatty, Girardi and? OK, maybe the guys we bought out don’t count and Cally was a trade, but anyway. ;)

If Hank retires, that opens up a lot of possibilities to not only fit players, but make changes to improve the team.

on the 'logjams' at certain positions...it makes it hard as fans to speculate on future line combos...but can also make it fun to speculate about different potential scenarios...but I think we need to all wrap our heads around the fact that a bunch of the youngsters we are loving right now aren't going to be around long term, obviously some might not pan out but some will also get traded...

and we also can't think about them as individuals in a vacuum...i think the talent depth has gotten to the point where line combos, chemistry and putting together a winning team might become the most important factor (along with cap hit) when it comes down to keeping player A but moving player B. it won't be as simple as player A is better than player B.

I personal think it is super exciting to see how the TEAM is rounded out to support the elite players.

This. I've been saying this very thing since the start of this rebuild.

M. Tkachuk would be great for us. He plays as RW and "is hard to play against". E. Lindholm would fit as well if he can play as C.

However Calgary has no reason to trade any of them ;)

If they get ousted early again this year they're gonna make changes.

Tkachuk is not going to be part of those changes (Gaudreau likely will be) but I'd be all over Monahan if he were to ever shake loose.

Cant imagine Hajek or Lias returning much more than a third round pick or equivalent prospect each.
If hank retires, why bother buying out Staal? Unless they are planning to make a move for a big money player, hanks departure would be more than enough to cover any additional costs, especially if Strome gets traded.

This. I've been saying this very thing since the start of this rebuild.

I get where people are coming from.

We all love to imagine three championships in the 2020s/early 2030s and someday raising the numbers of Lefreniere, Kakko and Shesterkin to the rafters as Lundqvist looks on.

But for most of these kids, there's going to be movement, both in the short-term and the long-term.

For example, our odds of having Trouba, Lundkvist, ADA and Fox in the same defense for an extended period is slim to none. We won't be able to have Miller, Lindgren, Robertson, Jones and Hajek all in the same lineup.

At some point, as Kakko and Kravtsov develop, we'll reach a point where we probably won't have Buch.

It's just the way it is.

Good to hear but why would there be any doubt that we draft Lafreneire #1? Isn't it a no brainer for this team?

Anyone knows if there is a real chance they are high enough on Wall?

Try to think about it from a pirate's perspective

Because he sucks.
