I'm hopeful the team can parlay Strome into some sort of fix at LD. If they were able to do that, St Louis would be an interesting team to fill that hole with Bozak.

They're gonna have to shed some salary next year, I wonder if they'd be willing to part with Blias as well. Bozak as the 2C for a stopgap year and having Blias play on the 4th line would add some depth.

Wonder if Lias + a pick would interest them. I'd probably ask them to retain on Bozak a bit but they'd be able to clear 3-4 million of space with this deal

If they can turn Strome, Deangelo and Lias Andersson into a top-4 LD and a top-2 C, Gorton and JD will have done masterful work.

He's 20 and far from a finished product. Kids can improve past the age of 19 years old. Faceoffs can be learned and lots of young players are not good defensively their first few years.
Yes, but you do not hand top 6 spots to kids like this. Let his play demand it.

If Jumbo Joe wants to play another year, I would offer a 1 year deal. Guy is still an elite passer and can feed Panarin and Zibanejad one timers all day long on the Power Play

I always said that Jumbo was the most Ranger player to never play for the Rangers. He just seemed always destined to be a Ranger. Sather loved him and tried to get him a couple of times over the years.

I like the idea of signing Mikael Granlund for a year or two. Put him on a line with Panarin and Kakko. Kakko will benefit from an elder Finn and from Panarin's playmaking.

If he's not, he's not. Where are we going this upcoming season?
hopefully improving on this season? Which would mean playoffs. I'm sure Gorton and JD have the same mindset.

Going in with Chytil as your #2 is a bad move.

Howden has a better chance at #2 coming out of this offseason than Chytil

Jesus f***ing Christ, the UN is going to sanction this take. There are nuclear arms rules, you know.

I get you hate Chytil, but you're out of your mind for that last sentence
I dont hate Chytil. I do not think he's as good as everyone else thinks... or to put it better, as far along.

Howden can work on physical aspects and grow in an offseason. Strength and first step quickness and Howden looks a lot different.

Chytil has the physical tools but lacks on the mental side. That takes actually playing. He could work on stickhandling though

Coming out of THIS OFFSEASON, I'd give better odds to Howden than Chytil.

i respect your post but howden has no hands, cant skate overly well and cant shoot....in what world should he be your #2 center over chytil now or ever?

I think that goes without say. But there's a world of difference between giving him an opportunity to prove he can do it and just handing him a spot. Because the sooner they find out, the better off they'll be. Imagine not having to go out and pay top dollar for a free agent or having to use assets to trade for one. That money can go towards signing guys, those assets can go towards upgrading LD. If Chytil proves he can play that position in two years time, their top 6 will be deadly and they'll have tons of flexibility to upgrade the team elsewhere.

Brett Howden is not a smarter hockey player than Filip Chytil. Chytil can literally skate circles around him while being a bigger player.

Ideally, whoever they get as the other center on this team will slide right into the 3rd line while Chytil takes that 2C role and runs with it.

I do not want to see this team come into next season with Strome as the 2C UNLESS it is on a 1 year deal. Even that is the worst case scenario. I'm full ready to make a move for an upgrade in that position for someone with term that is reasonable.

We have the assets to make that move, but I can see the slow play approach and get someone in free agency that can hold a spot as a 2C adequately while Chytil figures it out or we go into the following season and make a splash to get that legit center behind Mika. I'm not sure who the stop gap could be other than Strome, but I would much prefer to see if a team is willing to pay for Strome and find another player to fill his role.

Howden has a lower hockey IQ than Chytil and there is no way for him to work on that.

And to add to your point, you can teach a player defensive positioning and faceoff technique, but you can't teach Howden to be as big or as fast as Chytil. I think Howden can carve a nice career for himself as a PK guy and a a grind it out bottom sixer.

Would love to trade Trouba to Florida for the #12OA. New York and Florida were the states Trouba deemed fit for his fiance for work so in the grand scheme, I don't think he'd be too salty about it. That team needs help now, not futures. They have $15M coming off the books so technically they have the cap for it.

We obviously need that cap space for ADA and the roster spot for Lundkvist. Ultimately, don't see Florida doing this. They already have $24M tied up in 4 d-men so hard to imagine they up that to $32M for five. Dadonov and Hoffman UFAs. they boned.

Offer sheet for Barzal is a terrible idea. You keep your first round picks. They are important for replenishing talent on the roster when players get too expensive.

I also don't see the Rangers doing this. They know exactly what they were getting in Trouba, and they saw fit to give him that contract. He's not going anywhere.

And, the same goes for Kreider.

And they both have full NMC's.

Guys Gorton isn't the guy to rock the boat

There is a zero chance he offer sheets someone

we also have zero cap space to dish out an offer sheet...we should be worried about teams trying to pouch ADA not the other way around. and for those with short memories trading away picks for 4 straight years is how we got into a spot where we needed to blow up the team and rebuild. you don't 3 years later start trading picks away in bunches
