Fantasy. He doesn't sound like a guy thinking about retiring.

It's not really 'retiring' if he goes to be a guaranteed starter in Frolunda for two years.

I could certainly see that decision if he doesn't want to be the backup next year. Still, more likely Georgiev gets dealt.

He would be leaving a lot of money on the table.

maybe it doesn’t matter to him. Honestly the way things are here with Covid, maybe he just says f it and goes that route.

That all depends on the market. And if Georgiev is indeed on the block, this year's off season is a better market for sellers than 2015. Georgiev with 3 RFA years left, and maybe Murray and Ullmark to compete with, he could be the most valuable backup available, unlike Talbot in 2015.

It's about more than just Talbot's and Georgiev's performance

Talbot wasnt traded as a backup, he was traded as a goalie who was ready to be a #1. I think if anyone is expecting more for Georgiev they will be disappointed it will be of similar value.

I have no issues at all if one of the Rangers pounded someone for a big hit on Kakko or Chytil or any player on the team.

Clean hit or not, i dont care.

But it should be immediate and not later in the game.

Exactly what Kadri did with Lindgren. i have 0 issue with that.

I want my team to conduct themselves in the same manne .

I somewhat agree; I also want our team standing up for their teammates. However I'd also expect there to be discipline in the form of an instigator penalty at the least if they drop the gloves.

Why should someone who lays a big clean hit on an opponent automatically be expected to fight? It's like the unwritten rule about the pitcher who beans the next batter when he gives up a long homer. It may be the "code", but it's bullshit. When they do it, the umpire should toss them automatically...no warning the benches. Gone.

Getting rid of even half of Hanks contract next year could be the difference between winning the cup next year or not. Even if we saved 4 mill that could be the difference between getting a player like Getzlaf or Stastny at the deadline, its huge. It's all up to Hank though, he got this clause for a reason. If we have to move on for Georgiev we have to I'd prefer if we didnt ofcourse.

I think people are fooling themselves into how quickly this team is gonna be ready to win a Cup.

Why? They have so many picks, 2 in the top 5 and 3 in the 1st round. I think they can spare a couple of 2nds for a good young goalie, or are they gonna run with Anderson and Nilsson forever?

Just because they have picks doesnt mean they wanna spend them unnecessarily. Georgiev isn't the only option for Ottawa. I still think if Georgiev gets moved it's with Lias as part of a bigger deal, just my thoughts.

The thing is you can't wait in a cap world, to me the Leafs waited too long and now they are handcuffed, if we wanna go for it, it's gonna have to be in the next few years before the Shesterkin, kakko, fox, chytil etc are all still relatively cheap

The leafs are handcuffed because they spent 11 mil on a player they didn't need.

Agreed, but even without Taveres and Kadri back in they still wouldnt have enough cap to add what they really need and keep their goalie. Had they went for it while their stars were cheap they'd have more money to spend in areas of need .I still believe you cant wait as long as you could before or your window gets harder to keep open.

Given that a lot of bottom six NHL busts end up being KHL stars, one would think that if you can so easily make a lot more money in the KHL, more NHL players would go that route.

Unless you are Vladimir Sobotka, I think you first need to become a KHL star before they through huge money your way.

Jaskin just had a very successful season in his first season in KHL, why would he turn around and come to NHL unless he is offered top 2 line spot and a big contract?

Teams with big holes in their rosters like the Devils will likely be all over Jaskin.

Would an offer from Ottawa of 46 and 53 work for AG?
Rangers may prefer one 2nd this year and another next year. Irregardless, Ottawa has a shitload of draft picks and plenty of ammunition to make a trade. Whatever the final package, this match seems to make too much sense to not happen. The only thing that could get In the way is if one of the other goaltender deficient teams (Detroit, San Jose, Chicago etc.) wanted to jump into the bidding.
