There is a lot of talent in the second round that I would love the Rangers to snag just one of them. I hope they manage to get a 2nd somehow

Trading Georgiev for two 2nd round picks (Either to SJS or OTT) wouldbe a great deal for us. Having 6 picks of the first 100 is a great way to finish phase 1 of the rebuild and enter phase 2 where we fill holes in our lineups through trades

The market for goalies isn't really there so he should return more than just a 2nd rounder IMO, having 3 RFA years left

Wow really? Why would you have him as a do not draft?

I'm exaggerating.

I think he's a late 1st/early 2nd talent. I would be beyond furious if we took him with the top pick. I don't think there is a top 10 (or even 20) level skill set there and I don't see anything that really stands out other than the skating.

He plays a pretty perimeter offensive game which is strange since he has no issues running through people and the hockey sense is pretty average , that combo is enough for me to say thanks but no thanks. His AJHL track record doesn't mean much to me at this point, he looked horrible for long stretches at Wisconsin last year even if he finished on a strong note (which happened on the wing.) I don't think the tools are bad, but his game is pretty disjointed and I consider him a pretty big project. There are a ton of things that he needs to learn to do and the longer that list it, the more likely it is that he won't check enough boxes to justify picking him inside of the top 10/11. Really other than Zary, no one else that they could possibly take would make me angrier. I'd rather have the goalie, and I do NOT want the goalie.

Compare that to some one like Lundell, who doesn't have an overwhelming skill set either, but all of his tools fit well together. Do I think he's a top 5 talent in this draft? I do not, but his game is really efficient, translatable and pucks go in the right direction when hes on the ice. He doesn't have a laundry list of things he needs to learn how to do, he just needs to keep doing what hes doing, if that makes sense.

Georgiev isn't returning 2 2nds, 1 for sure but not 2.

Makes total sense, appreciate the insight.

Unless Drysdale/Sanderson fall to our pick I think we should avoid taking a Dman in the 1st round. Instead I'd like to try to get SJ's 2nd for Strome/Georgiev, and possibly another mid-to-high 2nd for the other one, and grab a guy like Eamon Powell in the 2nd
Schnieder with the 2nd first would be a great pick.

My fear is they trade the 2nd first round pick for a left d or center. Because they probably see us as out of Phase 1 already.

Based on???
Do you think 2, 2nd rounders were offered before the trade deadline? I don't, because if they were, they would have made that deal I believe.
Now, do any of the teams that just got bounced in desperate need of an unproven, potential #1, that are better options than what they have??

Georgiev has 3 RFA years left. And based on his talent, and his stats, he should not be any worse than Lehner, Bobrovsky, Bernier or Jones at the same age, who all returned more than just a 2nd rounder.

Here's an overview of RFA goalie trades at the draft

3 RFA years

2014: Jack Campbell for Nick Ebert
2014: Robin Lehner for a 1st
2013: Jonathan Bernier for 2nd + Ben Scrivens + Matt Frattin
2012: Sergei Bobrovsky for 2nd + 4th + 4th
2009: Chad Johnson for a 5th

2 RFA years
2015: Frederik Andersen for 1st + 2nd
2014: Martin Jones for 1st + Sean Kuraly

1 RFA year
2018: J-F Berube for Jordan Schroeder
2014: Antti Raanta for Ryan Haggerty

UFA years only
2015: Brian Elliott for a 2nd and cond 3rd
2015: Reto Berra for Rocco Grimaldi
2014: Jaroslav Halak for a 4th
2014: Antti Niemi for a 7th
2014: Anton Khudobin for Wisnewski
2014: Cam Talbot for 2nd+3rd

I would take two seconds for Georgiev...even if one of them was in 2021. That seems like fair value.

Maybe, but it would have to be for a young cost controlled player. While we have a good bit of prospect depth on D, the ones who will make it are still a year or two away in all likelihood. 2nd line centers are hard to come by, so I'm hoping we grab one (who projects to become one) with our 1st pick.

This may be misread as "Lundell hasn't shown a lot of offense" but that's not the case. Lundell is 6th since 2000 in Liiga among players in their draft year in P/GP. He's an elite passer and great defensively on top of his offense. I think him missing the WJC because of injury sees him drop which would just show GMs are idiots

I meant it as he has the offensive skill that make some people believe there's another level he can attain in that regard. Not that he lacks offensive skill. Had a couple beers in me at that point.

Guys do we really want to trade Geo for 2 2nds when one of our insiders have mentioned in code that Lundqvist is to retire/be bought out and play back in sweden?

I think this is the next big question- if Hank retires do we still trade Georgiev?

I'd lean towards 'yes,' but it would be a very risky move. At the very least if we keep Georgy we need to find some way to expose an alternative goaltender in the expansion draft. Maybe sign Jimmy Howard or Keith Kinkaid as a one-year backup for 1 mil.

Yes. By trading Georgiev (who I highly doubt is here long-term without Igor either completely sucking or suffering a career-ending injury), we can get good assets back that will help the team when they're in line to be contending

A few thoughts:

1. Zion Nybeck, please! :)

2. Is the Henrik Lundqvist retiring confirmed yet?

I think he could be an exciting prospect for a front office position.

Sanderson is EXTREMELY overrated. Mainly because he’s the best American player in a bad year for Americans. He shouldn’t go in the top 12 imo but he will. We should stay away.
