Eh, I mean Draisaitl makes 8M? DeAngelo is due 6M? Plus Chytil’s hit? We’d need to find 1.5M or so to fit Leon Draisaitl? Not bad. His contract is amazing for his last two point finishes.

My proposal is largely tongue in cheek, based on Edmonton failing to get out of the qualifier and needing to make changes to keep McDavid. A franchise winger, a good prospect and a 60pt RHD breakout machine/PP guru works when you’re not being particularly serious.

Bern’s proposal would have (somehow, through the invention of a new rule) involved retaining on DeAngelo’s future contract even though he’d sign it after the trade, finding a third party to take Staal‘s contract in exchange for something like two conditional 1sts in the future, in order to create cap space so that we could also acquire Adam Larsson, because even though we don’t need RHD, we’re also swinging Fox (@70% of course, it’s not Bern without excessive retention) and Ziba to Colorado and somehow ending up with a MacKinnon/Draisaitl one-two punch.

I’m not capable of that kind of artistry, in spite of what I just outlined.

LD makes 8.5M ADA earns 900k and is an RFA...I'm pretty sure he isn't going to 6M if history is any indication. Chytil is also earning 900k and is cheap for a while. Plus you have to also include the cap hit of the guy who is replacing ADA. I think we're looking at a decent bit more than finding 1.5M.

ADA needs a new contract. He’s gonna get 5M minimum, more if it’s a long term deal. Chytil’s 900k, even if ADA only gets 5M comes up to 6M. So 2.5M? Not a big difference. What ADA made this past year is irrelevant. What portion of the cap he’ll take going forward is. It also means we can move Strome instead of giving him a raise, which would also look like 5M. Move him for a 2M defender stop gap until Lundkvist comes over.


We have a bit under 14M cap space this summer. DeAngelo and Strome are the big names to re-sign. Both due at least, a combined 9.5M, more likely around 10.5. If you acquired a center making 8.5, you’re not paying either of them. You have 5.5M to re-sign Lemmy and add a couple vets.


It’s a moot point because it’s not a serious proposal. First, we’d have to win the lottery. Second, Edmonton won’t move Drai even for 1OA+. I’m more poking fun of them (probably) getting upset by Chicago in the qualifier.

You forgot to add Nieves to the bern deal so Edmonton has a legit 2c.

I know this is brought up every draft but I've actually read some reports Lafrenierre can be tried at Center? Does that have any weight?

Nieves is going to be our 2C. The reason we’re acquiring Mack and Drai is so Drai can be a full time RW on Mack’s line. We’re gonna go:

McKegg - McKegg - McKegg

We can’t do worse than 11th right now and I think as high as 9th is possible if the Jets win the lottery and Minnesota comes back and wins their series.

If Minnesota loses their series, then 11th, unless Minnesota or Winnipeg wins the lottery, then 10th.

Or unless we win the lottery, then FIRST BITCHES
