I don't imagine they would, no.
I feel like the Rangers wouldn't do that either tbh.

They love Strome, and he has proven chemistry with their best player, so that does count for something. Panarin - Strome - Fast was like 7th in xGF% among FWD lines with 300+ mins of TOI together in the NHL this season.

Edit: Rangers might do it but then who is replacing Strome?

Random proposal:

Would the Sabres trade #8 for Ryan Strome, Lias Andersson and the Carolina pick? We’d then draft Lundell.

I think if the Rangers trade away the Carolina pick it'll be for NHL player ala the Trouba deal. I could see Georgiev and Carolina pick for Nylander.

Haven't really seen his name brought up but how bout Jeff Carter as a trade candidate? Kings are obviously going through a down period so they probably aren't married to keeping him. We could use the veteran presence in the room. He only has two years left at reasonable money (maybe get LA to eat a small portion). Basically if bringing back Strome doesn't fit in the cap or if we can maximize his trade value I feel like Carter would be a good low risk purchase.

36 years old, coming off core muscle surgery, with a caphit of $5.25m for 2 more seasons. No thanks.
We have a veteran presence in the room (your mileage may vary on how useful that presence is), if we are talking about $5+m of cap space we should aim for something a bit more useful

Anthony Cirelli is the player I'd like to focus on the most, but I don't see what the Rangers would be willing to trade that the Lightning want. I would trade any prospect not named Laf, Miller, Lundkvist, Kravtsov. But I feel like it would take #20 + one of VK or NL. And I'm not interested in that. Maybe we could do #20 and Robertson but the Lightning would really be doing that for a cap crunch issue cause why would they be trading for futures?

What about Buchnevich for Roope Hintz? To me, Rangers might be losing the trade, because Hintz may not be a 2c. He seems similar in a way to where Chytil is, but older. He may not have the same offense as Buch, but he can move around the lineup and is another big kid who can skate really well and would be an interesting building block middle-six player who could fit well with Chytil and Gauthier. That threesome would be a nightmare for opponents with the size and speed.

Any chance we can get Sean Monahan from Calgary? I think he checks off a lot of boxes, young 25, face offs over 50%, good size, can score,. If yes, what would we have to give up to get him.? Looking at him replacing Strome.

Colorado was in a similar situation to us.

Top heavy, "weak" down the middle, defensive cluster f***.

Didn't take them long to put it together. I think the cluster to our defensive f*** is going to take a bit of time to iron out but the other issues shouldn't be too hard to iron out.
Didn't it, though?

They drafted MacKinnon 7 years ago.

I still cannot believe we are drafting Lafreniere in 2-3 months.

I’d really like to revamp the center position for next season. Buy a little more time for another center to develop.

I’d like to find a way to pry the Buffalo 8th overall pick with some of the assets we have. I think you can obtain with a package that starts with Strome. I just keep thinking this is a desperate team that wants to make Eichel happy. Drafting a center/forward at 8 overall that might not have a full impact for 2-3 years is a long time to wait with Eichel already unhappy right now. Strome + Lias + Hajek for the 8th. Draft Lundell.

Target Cirelli/Monahan/Nylander. Anything less doesn’t really cut it for me. They need a 2nd line level center. Georgiev, Chytil, the late 1st, can be some of the main pieces that go the other way. Howden also should be on the table as an additional piece. Might have to swap Chytil with Buch both for current value and salary purposes.

Sign Thornton for 3C, 1 year deal.

Sign Boyle for 4C, 1 year deal

Sign Clifford for 4th line wing, 2-3 year deal.

Kreider-Zib-Buch
Panarin-Monahan-Kakko
Lafreniere-Thornton-Gauthier
Lemmy-Boyle-Clifford
DiGi

So thats us moving out Strome, Chytil, and Howden. Not re-signing Fast. And no I am not just throwing Chytil away, I think he still has so much potential, but they need to give to get. I would love to bring Fast back but they need to get even tougher to play against, Clifford brings that and protection.

They would still have Barron, Kravtsov, Henriksson, Lundell*, all coming in the next 1-3 years.

I'd look at Nick Cousins in FA.

Versatile in both position and where he can play in your bottom 6. Plays an abrasive style, under 30 and can be had on a short term deal.
