If they could get BUF to take a 2021 first, that would be an enormous coup. That pick should be later than either of the NYR picks in this draft.

Our pick that comes from Carolina this year has a better chance of leaning towards a later-round pick than our own pick next year.

Though, with the depth of the draft class this year, I would much prefer the 2021 1st as well.

DeAngelo is going to rack up the points. He's too good not too. With the way the Rangers can play with guys like DeAngelo and Fox on the back end, it allows them to get more possession time, create 5 man cycles, and break defenses down.

With the talent on the squad, and that improving with the build out, the point totals will be high for Tony D.

6 Years at $6.35M is a very team friendly deal that gives Tony another crack at a UFA contract that can make him into a $100M man. That's not too bad, and that deal is a steal for the Rangers. Front load it, NYC is a great place to have capital and invest. If Tony can turn himself into a savvy investor, or get hooked up with the right guys, then he's balling even more.

I don't have issues with his defense. I said it a long while ago, Tony's going to have a letter on his chest. Deserves it too. He's one of the young leaders on the team. Media friendly, and racks up the points where those media appearances are a lot better fan experiences. Especially if the team is winning.

When Tony was still unsigned, I posted about Dan Boyle being a comparison, and why Tony needed to sign and just play, show why he should have been paid, cause now there's a hell of a late fee.

You still have the playoffs, and if Tony raises his game, and ups the ante you just see the dollars go up.

Rangers already traded Skjei to make space, so the path is clear for Tony D to get paid.

Tony will never have a letter, he is too polarizing of a person especially with his political tweets whether you agree or disagree with his opinions they won't want a letter attached to him. Plus with Kreider, Zib, Panarin, Fox,Kakko and Trouba around there will be no reason to make that leap.

Del Zotto isn’t nearly as skilled or smart as Fox, I don’t like this comparison. I get your point about the expectations, but think about it... He needs to bulk up and improve his skating, things which are more than possible. He put up over 40 points as a rookie without being on the 1st unit. It’s more then possible that he hits 50-60 points with 1st unit PP time.

His skills and smarts are through the roof. Del Zotto never had that type of upside and his 3rd season was really good, but he played sheltered minutes and got 1st unit PP time and put up 40 points. Fox became the team’s 1D during the season and played excellently in that role. He has a lot of room to improve as well.
I have some tools in my garage smarter than Del Zotto

Is this sort of like "Looking for Mr. Goodbar?"

What do you say @bernmeister?

I want the authentic feel. Like the moment with awkward silence when bernmeister and me meet at JFK. Trying to make small talk when we ride into the city. We get into his apartment, the unavoidable feeling of ‘have we thought this idea through?’ Awkward attempts at finding clues of who RB is. What have happened to him? The challenges we face from outside life. Then a story starts to unravel with so much behind it. Real life vs life online. Social dimension of normal life of the 21st century, are we more alone than ever before due to always being connected? Or is it the opposite? We make progress. Interview RBs childhood friends. Maybe some teacher. His parents? Where is he? Mystery.

Gunther Walraff meets Werner Herzog if you get what I mean.

Kravtsov and Andersson being considered for the expanded roster. I love it.
I mean, you of course have to consider them. Each for a different reason--Andersson as a possible contributor, Kravtsov more for the experience. That said, I would think they're considering about 15 guys total, so, who knows how it plays out.

Still need to finalize the number of extra skaters, too. It's not inconceivable it ends up less than 28.

DeAngelo is way too much of a liability to have a letter on his chest. Rangers arent that stupid

Its not on his twitter feed. Was it in a podcast?

I could've sworn he posted it in his 31 thoughts, but if he didn't, maybe the podcast. I'll check again.
Friedman said they're "looking at" both of them and the Rangers are trying to keep communication strong with Andersson, the latter point being both encouraging and troubling IMO.

Seems to be very well liked in the room. Polarizing because he has a political opinion? Most of us have those - not a guarantee that your a polarizing personality. I’m not saying he’ll def get a letter but I wouldn’t be shocked to see him wear an A at some point. Very good player, seemingly well liked, willing to drop the gloves to protect a teammate...

Fox is in his first year. Fox had 1.45 points a game in his last year at Harvard, he is just scratching the surface of what he can bring. He is miles ahead of where DeAngelo was at this point in his career.

We all love Fox, but it’s certainly possible that ADA is the better PP QB. That’s not a dig at Fox. I’m not sure why Fox point per game numbers in Harvard are all that significant at this point. Players develop differently. My personal take is that Fox will be the better all around defenseman while ADA has more offensive upside. Both are very good players.

A Del Zotto/DeAngelo bromance would be amazing too watch...as long as it's off the ice

I think ADA is a leader and MDZ is more of a follower.

I always kinda thought MDZ was a bit of a tool. He’s seems like the kinda guy that would dye his hair blonde one year to look like Eminem and just jump from faze to faze. He also seems like the guy that would keep calling the same girl and not take the hint she wasn’t interested. Basically, dumb on and off the ice.

Fox’s production prior to the NHL is nothing in comparison to DeAngelo’s, DeAngelo was the most productive junior dman since Bobby Orr. Fox does not have the high end talent of DeAngelo, and that’s been apparent at every stage of their careers. Fox is also 22 and DeAngelo 24, not like Fox was an 18 year old rookie or something
