I keep hearing people like Vince wonder how are the rangers going to salvage this season and make any impact trades?

They shouldn’t Vince, this season is toast. They need to sell off and look ahead. Recoup some of the draft picks that Drury threw down the drain at the deadline over the past few years, create cap flexibility. That’s it.

What is going on here we just signed Igor to a full nmc lol
Yeah but if I'm not mistaken the full nmc does not kick in until July
we need to repurpose Shesty to max that value, or wait a yr or so for quick to set aside and make room for Garand, and only then, after Garand's value is upped, deal him. But best move is to get top $ for shesty now

Why are we trading Fox for a 13 year old as the main piece?
????
3 players useful now, LD w/size + 2 pivots

I appreciate your creativity bern, but these trades just made me throw up in my mouth. They turned us into a bottom 5 team
Not so.
And you need to aim ahead of the curve here.
That means taking a chance on quality youth
IMO, this is sufficiently high quality

"He can't skate"

NEITHER CAN YOU!!!
Yeah, neither can I but I am not slower than molasses and taking 9.5 cap hit

“extend the window”

Too bad the window would be looking out at a perpetual dumpster fire.
Wrong.
Have replaced the vets w/quality youth on cusp of breakkout
3 players useful now, LD w/size + 2 pivots
there is no pleasing some people

It isn't dumb. You are right. The word hasn't been invented yet for how stupid/awful/dumb/idiotic trading Adam Fox would be.
Sounds like an would be insight seeking to be authoritative, except it lacks objectivity
team IS a mess right now
3 players useful now, LD w/size + 2 pivots > Fox given his skating WILL decline

Howev, if you prefer, feel free to have your laugh taking your dig at me
and when I am proven right in a couple of years b'c like Buch, we waited too damn long, then I will laugh last

I love how bern trades everybody except the rotten fish named kreider
That's b'c your assessment of Kreider is entirely erroneous!

Land of no calls..
So...did Trouba get his signing bonus before he was traded ? I thought he had a 24 Million bonus...if he got it then what did he or does he cost the Ducks for the balance of this year ? They could do OK on him if they retain and does he still have NTC rights or are they gone .?

It's the same for everyone with signing bonuses. They're paid on July first.

According to puckpedia he was paid 8m, 8m, and 6m in bonuses the first three years of his deal. Now he's just paid a flat salary each season. 6m this year and 6m next year. That's more appealing to a team like the Ducks. Less of a hit all at once.

Trade clause rights are almost always honored by the team that acquires him. So he still has a NTC with the Ducks.

Here's a fun fact regarding Kakko off of pp2.

Kaapo Kakko had more points on the PP his first season here, when he was barely an AHL 3rd liner, than he has had in all his other NYR seasons combined.

In the words of Torts- he sucks on the power play.

Too bad the NYR organization can't draft/develop a player(s) who honor the franchise and become the face of the franchise... maybe because it doesn't have one?

There really isn't a player from the 3rd pairing to the fourth line to the first line that is a true leader, that embodies the identity of they NYR?

People laugh at mentioning Messier.. and believe me i get it... but you need that type(S) in your lineup.. throughout the line up.

Seems like the MO is always waiting for "X" player from another team to sign/get traded to NY to save them?
It seems to me that those type of players that lead and honor the franchise keep getting traded by the franchise that frankly doesn’t know what honor is.

Maybe the next time PP2 can gain the zone and get set up, we'll see Kakko and Laf both getting married with Fil being the best man at their weddings.

Why is it that last year we were good although we werent expected to be and the Devils last year were expected to be good yet were bad? Now this year its the exact opposite. We had the best record in the regular season last year now this year with many of the same players we suck.

The Devils last year were 2nd to last in our division now theyre right up there where we should be battling for 1st place. Some of this must come down to management. I'd love to trade Mika but with the nmc thats very difficult. Should we replace Lavi? Why are some of our key players so much worse this year, could the loccer room mood with Trouba and Goodrow and constant media negative attention f***ed up their fragile egos this much and they just lost all their confidence? If so, we need pronto to figure out how to regain that swagger (if you could call it that). There must be a big trade we could do that would spark them into action. But what?

1. Fox, NYR 2027 2nd
for
Pinto, Kleven, Grieg OTT 2029 1st + cap dump Harmonic
cap dif is 9.5 - approx a little under 7; OTT has 4.8 space so it covers

Kleven plays either side, big D, elc
pivot depth
structural cap relief

Sens get RD partner for Sanderson

2. Shesty 1.5 retained this season + extension, = 4.1+ cap hit here, KAM 3.8+ cap hit, + Grieg <1 cap hit, Smith 3.7cap hit, + and Rs 2025 1st unprotected
_________ total cap ballpark = 12.6
for
Byfield 6.2+ cap hit, + Jakub Dvorak, < 1 elc, Helenius <1 elc + LAK 2025 and 2027 1sts
_________ total cap ballpark = 8-ish, LA has extensive cap room for the 4+ dif

LA - big get is Shesty, NOW. Grieg is a former late 1st and a bit more developed at than fellow pivot Helenius, KAM more developed and ready now comp to Dvorak; Smith = short term useful F

Rs - Byfield pairs w/Kreider + best fit for RW, next season likely Gabe P
Dvorak another LD w/size, hopefully ready soon
Helenius is another huge F who can also pivot

--------------------
Do Zib at half to VAN just to get rid of him
Zib + Vesey + Harmonic + Carrick
for
Raty, Juulsen + acceptable cap dump if nec

----------------------

In the event anyone cares, I saw it floating around from Incarcerated Bob that the Rangers have been trying to make a move for Brock Nelson for the last few weeks
Interesting… Emily said the same to Vince on his Podcast this morning. It was kind of off handed and hypothetical but now thats kind of a suspicious hypothetical.

Rangers do play better when they play an engaged physical game. Rangers were better with Rempe in the lineup
This narrative needs to die. The Rangers are 1-2-1 with him in the lineup this season. I don't care about last year that's only news. If anything he's looked worse at the NHL level this year. 0 points and 7 PIMS in those 4 games.

Let him adjust and improve his discipline and overall game in Hartford, he's not helping this team right now.

Fox is under team control and in his prime, and is the type of player you tank for to begin with.

Why would you throw that away and then hope desperately that the next core develops one?

If you're that committed to just tanking, make up an injury and keep him out for a year. I'm sure you can find something wrong with him.
