Granted I am not the hockey mind that Chris "Im not going to let it ruin my weekend" Drury is but why would he even want Wennberg?

He's a proven 3C who plays a complete 200ft game and is a good transporter of the puck. He is also, what I would consider a plus skater. Not in the way that Kreider is but he can scoot.

He's 29 years old and if we look at his past 3 entrances into the playoffs, 2019-2020, 2020-2021 and 2022-2023 he has a respectable 14 points in 30 games.

Did you happen to notice Roslovic in the games against the Jackets? He seemed to be around the puck and willing to shoot quite a bit. I wonder if Drury and Muse know him from USA hockey and if they would consider him at very little cost to play RW on that line.
Thats the type of unsatisfying name most fans would balk at adding but in reality would be a cheap and likely effective add.

You could see if Wennberg and/or Roslovic fit next to Mika, because Jack can play center too right?

Putrid shooting% though lol unsustainably low

Not a fan of replacing Kakko on that line with "Kakko but he was born in Columbus, Ohio" personally
The real big brain stuff would be to break up Kreider and Zibanejad, instead of trying to find another winger to have a go with them. We've had a dozen players in that spot. The only one that worked was Buchnevich.

Does this mean that if Tuch isn't traded there are no good organisations in the league?
Or that if we did Fox for Tuch we'd become a 'good' organisation?
To be fair, the request of Adam Fox for Alex Tuch may be the most delusional request I have seen in my nearly 17 years on these boards.

Think about the bullshit that gets posted on a daily basis. 17. Years.

The sad part is that I think the fans value him that highly that they really would expect Adam Fox and nothing less for Tuch. In reality, Norris winning defenseman usually are worth more than the forward equivalent.

If we are trading Adam Fox, the equivalent value would be of a Mackinnon type. Not that many teams have two of those lying around but, you catch my drift. So basically, a move that would never happen.

Buffalo doesn't have a single player or combination of players/prospects that are worth Adam Fox.

K'Andre Miller for Tuch would be a more appropriate deal. However, if you post that in the Tuch thread be prepared to be chased out by pitchforks, despite its plausibility. Not that I want to trade Miller.

pittsburgh is dreaming if they think they're getting all that for guentzel

Sorry. Forgot to add the sarcasm/haha tags. It was hyperbole. Though, that doesn't change the fact that Tuch is a very good player and just about the only name mentioned that checks all the boxes people bring up.

That all being said, I don't think he is even available so...moot point really.

Yeah he is pretty bad. He is a prototypical 'floater'
he was a contributor for the panthers in the run last year. i think he has been discounted too much and his speed absolutely stood out in moments during their run and had an impact. you can do worse than duclair on the 3rd line for a run.

I also am still waiting for granlund to start coming up more. I think once wennberg is traded granlund becomes the new wennberg in the market. at 50% retained you can get a 3c at 2.5aav for two playoff runs

He has been a point per game player for the last 6 years. I'd ship our 1st, Kakko and a prospect out if I thought we had a snowballs chance in hell of re-signing him. He is worth it.

yeah i guess i would do that if i really thought we were one player away from being a cup favorite

Fair, but I mean there are no cup favorites. Upgrading to Guentzel on the first line, Wennberg in the middle on the 3rd line and having Igor continue to play in god mode, I'd have a hard time seeing how we wouldn't be one of the favorites, even with Trouba and Lindgren.

Solid body of work…. He doesn’t have brods wheels or his shoot 1st mentality which is a bit concerning but he’s a far more proven polished player.

A 3rd line of cuylle-Wennberg-Kakko should excel along the boards, cycling the puck and having a fwd/d-man cutting thru the middle looking for a scoring chance….

As long as the price isn’t too high, I’m not against adding him.
Cuylle always goes to the right spot it seems and Kakko has been getting better in that regard. He still gets lost high up on the circles at times when he should be lower

It's wild to see how peoples opinions are so different in here.
It's because the team has so many flaws but continues to win on the strength of special teams, a single scoring even strength line, and some good goaltending.

Finding the magic ingredient to make the roster more offensively balanced at even strength without giving up a roster player, without giving up a top prospect, and without violating cap constraints is threading the needle.

I think people are maybe making the mistake of trying to overcorrect for last year's playoff dud. Yes the team's top line doesn't score enough at 5v5, but they also don't give up much when Kakko is on wing there.

I think maybe bolstering the lineup with another tenacious defensive forward might be the way to go here and still give the team a chance at winning, because you're not going to be able to change the top 4 d-men. And you're not going to get Kreider and Zib to suddenly explode offensively when playing 5v5 hockey (although I thought they generated a little more last night than they had in prior games even though they didn't score).

It's such a shame we lost a guy like Chytil this year thought. I really think the team would be easier to "complete" at this TDL if he were still in the lineup. As constructed, the roster has too many missing spots right now.

Who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if the Knights stepped up and paid most of that price. A first, Edstrom and some kind of youngish roster player.
