Someone earlier mentioned an ownership nixed Letang trade by rutherford prior to him resigning. Does anyone else know more on this trade?

That gig will be tough for whoever takes the job
That alleged acquiring team could be interested in ADA as well.

Sorry for the “hypothetical” edit before you can reply. I’ve posted once or twice about the twitter behavior towards ADA so I get it. Sadly twitter has a huge pull these days no matter how many bots or multiple accounts exist on either side.

I'm still not getting it.
And I'm not looking to give you specifically a hard time but I need to know how and in what way ADA has said anything racial.

He's a Philly football fan and some of his favorite players are black so until I get any concrete evidence, I'm calling this a complete bunch of bullshit!

That was a good blip and he was less modest than he was on Insider Trading about the reasons why teams are interested. I'm still not getting my hopes up about any sort of valuable return, but it sounds like there's enough genuine interest in ADA to get some sort of "hockey deal" done.

Yeah I'm not betting on a premium return either but it sure sounds better than where we thought we might be 24 hours ago. I'm sure we'll eat money or take back an not-so-great contract -- perhaps even both -- but I don't think we're going to get taken to the woodshed at least.

Even says someone in the Rangers room told him that "9 times out of 10" Tony is a rock solid teammate but if it's that one exception, he's a total nut job that's screaming at everyone and the coaches.

Good listen for sure.

I'm imagining this in my head and lol

It is been explained many times by multiple posters, as well as what has been reported on by the media, that what Deangelo did extends well beyond a sarcastic remark.

Being willfully ignorant or deliberately obtuse about this matter is just annoying at this point.
What are you quoting? The established sources have alleged nothing more than chirping. No choking, no punching (by Deangelo) no racism.

My guess, a player like PLD wanted out of the locker room, probably had other reasons too, city, management/coaching whatever. Usually it's not just one thing.

Yet there are likely destinations that would maybe fit ADA better too. Again I would expect a pittance of what he is worth on ice, yet given the NYR market they may find at least someone that wants out of wherever they are for similar yet opposite reasons. Business is business. If I were a GM who had a locker room which had some personality ADA similar types, then why not see if that could be a thing? GMs knowingly have kept/signed/traded for talent regardless, just like the Rangers did when they acquired ADA in the first place... among others.

That last sentence of your post which you evidently forgot about.

And him just being gone is already a great return....anything we get back would be icing on the cupcake
If he is an issue in his new locker room, how is that an issue for us? Him causing chaos for a rival would benefit us.

Also, I think you’re confused. I haven’t defended his off ice behavior.

Yeah, given the tiny buyout cost after the season, it seems unlikely that Gorton would absorb some awful contract or include an actual asset along with DeAngelo or anything like that. I mean, never say never and all, but we don't have to trade him.

Man I wish Peter Chiarelli was still a GM somewhere. Imagine if he was in Edmonton still, we would get RNH plus a 2nd for TDA.

Bennett + Ryan + ________ for ADA

fits both teams. Flames actually save cap this year.

Dumb question for those more informed than me, can The Rangers ask for a conditional pick for 2022 if ADA plays 10 games for that team OR is traded? Basically if he isn’t bought out, they get a 2022 pick?

The Rangers pick up an energy player and a depth center.

Likely trade will be a bottom pair defenseman coming back. I wouldn't be expecting any better than that.

No one would take him and his $4.8M AAV for free off waivers. The “sudden” interest is because now the Rangers will have to retain salary to get him out of the organization.
I’m guessing Brisson has been on a PR blitz around the league as well, promising that his client understands he f’ed up and will do whatever mea culpa/redemption a new team requires.

Would love a Bennett for DeAngelo package of some sort.

To your point, I think maybe only two or three teams had the cap space, without having to make an ancillary move.
It actually was more like a third of the league (though a few would’ve been pressed very close to the limit). People keep making the mistake of looking at the full contract and beginning season cap numbers, and not the current in-season numbers.

Yeah I mean unless the team is 100% sure they'd have to face down the NHLPA and had a high probability of losing that fight, there's no real need to get screwed here. I don't see Gorton caving and saying, "Gee, I guess 4 more years of Adam Henrique at almost $6m per is just the cost of getting Tony out of our hair!"

I'm guessing the team eats 50% and takes back a contract that evens out what they had allocated for Tony this year and next. Maybe that guy has a 3rd year tacked on. If it's a guy with a longer deal then I would expect it's someone who they think can actually be a solid contributor for them.
