What do you guys think of Mete? He shouldn’t cost too much, especially since he made his trade request public, and he has potential. I’ll admit I haven’t seen him play very much.

So I’ve been working all day and could only glimpse at the boards and the game until now.

I’m glad I was otherwise occupied. What a shit show this place has been today. I just scanned this entire thread and saw more dumb than I’ve ever seen in one place. I don’t even know where to start.

Gorton is not the problem here. He’s managing a lot of personalities, a very young organization and a demanding set of bosses. I think he does his job well, some parts of it very well.

Tony DeAngelo was/is the problem. His actions are unacceptable. Yes, I know benching a guy for two games for popping off at a referee is tough to swallow. Watching Fox take your job on PP1 isn’t to be ignored either. Nevertheless, when you are told this is your last chance you act accordingly. Tony did. Case closed.

The Rangers will survive this nicely. DeAngelo wasn’t in the long term plans here. We all knew that. The Rangers will get a return but probably not the bounty we had all hoped for.

The team proved a lot tonight. They scuffled, blocked shots and did everything necessary to win. I’m going to go out on a limb and predict that this incident will bring the team much closer. Long term, this could prove to be a seminal moment for the growth of a young group.

And as with any crash, there’s collateral damage. Seeing JD take down our blogger friend was priceless. Perhaps we could also ask him to take down a couple of the rogue posters who seemed to come out of the woodwork today. (e.g. see the post directly below)

So sounds like Gorton blurted something dumb to ADA and then felt he had to keep his word and do what he promised he would do when he blurted his dumb threat. Complete idiot.

Gee, Bob, how do you really feel?

(Not that I disagree.)

If this is the case, what was the point of waiving him? Why not just send him home and get a deal done? I suppose the assumption is that we’ll be retaining and they were hoping to avoid that?
I believe that, due to Tony's young age, the Rangers can buy him out at a discount (I think I heard Elliott Friedman say 1/3 on the NHL NETWORK) come summertime, should no deal with another team be made prior.

He is? That's crazy. I haven't watched any Vegas games yet
Yeah, it’s him flanked by Pacioretty and Stone. That line has been consistently dominant since it was put together, mainly because Mark Stone is a freak of nature, but Stephenson is a very simple, efficient player that helps their engine run. His scoring numbers won’t stand out, but you’ll notice how good he is when you see them play

Yeah I see that. What I don’t fully understand is, if both Gorton and Brisson think a deal is likely to be made, what was the point of waivers? The only logical reason would be that the Rangers think any trade involving Deangelo will involve retention, and they preferred the slight chance that someone would take him off waivers at full cost, and they prefer that to retention + whatever return may be on the table.

Keep an eye on Calgary and Vegas, possibly Florida and Anaheim.
How bad is his value? and is the package bigger than just ADA?

Say the barometer is 50% retained for Bennett. Better, worse or on par?

ADA+Gauthier for Tuch?

Did someone say Shattenkirk?!? How much is he making? I'd give him another try, he really had a bum deal when he was here.
