Bennett or Yandle and I'm good. Both would be solid depth additions. Especially if Florida would retain some money.

Why would you want Yandle on the third pair, making at least 3.175 mil, for the next 3 years? Just sit Tony out and then buy him out in the summer.

Too busy watching Zardoz again?

Did not realize he was bringing all of that crap into the locker room. I guess the money and podcast got to his head lol.

Alright time to move on. Sucks we probably don't get anything and have to buy him out but let's keep it positive, maybe this brings the team together. K'Andre is officially the best guy on the team at this moment. Hope one day him and Fox finish 1, 2 in Norris. We have an open spot for Nils now. Just need to figure out coach and 2C going forward.

Not happy it happened but maybe this gives Georgiev a few games off and now Shesty can get into a rhythm.

Lost in all this political BS with Tony, is how badass Panarin is for speaking openly against Putin in an interview a couple of summers ago.
which is really ballsy consider he still spends a lot of time in Russia.. that type of dissent is not always tolerated.

people have gone missing, allegedly

Not saying Yandle is the answer but this team could use a legit seasoned veteran to guide the kids and keep the room in check.

Ive been a big Tony D supporter but given what @Edge has revealed, there is no room for that shit in the locker room. Just shut the f*** up and play hockey.

I figured his twitter was separate from his real word life but apparently it was just a window into it.

I expected it would bleed together but bleeding together doesn't mean you are racist or bigoted or even unliked by your teammates. There are people I work with who are outspoken about their politics without being unbearable. I have no doubt some of them are keyboard warriors on social media who I wouldn't be able to stand if I knew what they were posting online.

But if you can't control yourself enough that you end up in fights with your teammates that makes it easy. He is the one who has a history of not getting along. It seems to me likely that comments made to Georgiev were probably stemming from political disagreement they had as well.

Some of y'all need to get off your high horse. Calling doubts on the Herman story, tony being called a COVID denier, Tony being a racist bully etc. is very different than violent asshole.

I can't believe that people are using this as an excuse to bitch about the coaches and GMs rather than the obvious fact that DeAngelo is head case

As for leadership inthe locker room...I dunno I feel like some people think it's something where you just have a couple of vets and everything works out like it's baking a cake and adding an ingredient. It sounds like team leadership did try to manage the situation and when it became too much they said gtfo

Agenda driven.

Just like in the Twitter world false ADA rumors where used to continue to try to portrait him as a racist (for supporting Trump), these events are also being used to try to portrait as a NYR coaching issue because of dislike of Quinn. In both cases the only true denominator is ADA being a headcase.

Just end this year already and give us Matty Berniers. We can try this youth movement thing again next season. Maybe in front of fans.
Honestly, just enjoy the ride. I know we were all hoping to have turned a major corner, but this is still a big developmental year for us and watching the kids has been a bright spot.

Also, we could leapfrog the Isles with a win tonight. So at least there's that!

I know that Strome "liked" at least a couple of Tony's political tweets before Tony deleted twitter, but I don't think I've ever seen him post anything politically motivated.

If you're an athlete/entertainer, or really any kind of public figure, your best bet is to keep your opinions very quiet. You're going to piss someone off, and they won't forget it.

Case in point, I still remember that Strome liked some of Tony's tweets, even though it probably happed 6 to 9 (nice) months ago.

Setting aside the question of whether you have the right (or obligation) to use your platform as an athlete or entertainer to be political, I really wish they would choose not to. It's almost entirely divisive. You aren't educating youth, that's what parents and teachers are for. The amount of people who take their cue from Lebron James or Tony DeAngelo should be minimal. Complete strangers who you have no idea what kind of people they really are or what their motivations really are. Politics should be from people you trust.

They're were comments to start the season that Q did not like Yandle and they didn't think he was going to be part of their top-6. Yes it has to do with salary but it also has to do with his playing style versus what the coach wants. Yandle has 3 years left. ADA has 2. ADA's buyout is miniscule comparatively after this season. Also, Yandle has a NMC so his list of acceptable teams may be short.
I didnt see the Q vs Yandle thing.

Great point. You can have great locker room leadership, and still have one prick who disrupts things. They're all professionals and adults and they can't just magically make a guy fall in line. Or, sometimes it takes something like this to make a guy fall in line. And in this case it coinciding with his expulsion from the team.

It could be leadership problem, or it could not. Tough to really know.

Never like the kids politics, but honestly thought it wasn't seeping into the locker room. Definitely wrong about him growing up. I was a fan of his potential ON THE ICE.

just want to set the record straight that I never wanted to defend anything that is coming out now.

I always want the best for this team. And I agree that this could be the 'turning point' for this dumpster fire.

So I guess everyday K'Andre is going to become more awesome. Dig the fck out of that.

I mean even in all of this crap that went down, the fact is that what he did on Twitter or his podcast didn't seem to matter. It wasn't until he brought that stuff into the locker room that the situation deteriorated into what it is now. So the reality seems to be that voicing your opinion isn't really an issue as long as you can keep it out of the locker room. Which is really the same as any other profession and the way it ought to be in pretty much any social setting.

When Tony left Twitter for Parler, it was a little worrisome because it meant he was diving deep into a world of conspiracy theories and breaking off with reality.

It's quite troubling that the events of last few weeks is what ultimately set him off. I really hope he gets help - not only for his lack of self-control, but also for letting his beliefs consume him to the extent that it affected him professionally.

Hopefully the team can now focus on hockey without any distractions. I really like the way Miller has handled himself throughout all this, so that's one positive to take away from this disastrous season so far.

I have zero problem with Fox wearing the C. He's done nothing but stepped up and proven himself since we got him. On his way to being their best dman since Leetch.

McDonagh was better in his prime, Fox is better offensively but I'd go McDonagh to this point.

Yep, that's it. And somehow asking for facts and patience is the same as supporting or defending. But whatever.

Glad information is coming out and multiple sources are corroborating the story. ADA has got to go, and he needs help. I know people will vehemently disagree, but I believe redemption is an important element to civilization. I don't see how Deangelo earns that here, but I would like to see an opportunity to earn it somewhere. Emphasis on earn.

Can't fault the rangers for the action they took and its a totally appropriate separation.
