I know a lot of it is not public but all we've seen is a bad penalty and chirping the officials?

Teammates seem to like him.

Well his play has been awful, too.

We waived Smith in his first season here, who was making a similar amount, for a lot less.

Smith was never great and his play has been awful for a lot longer. The Smith contract looked bad on Day 1.

Great, more dead cap space. Just what we needed.

If someone could do us a favor and claim him that'd be awesome. Detroit? Marc Staal reuinion?

Like I said, this is all hindsight. This place would've had a f***ing meltdown if the Rangers moved DeAngelo for less than their fantasy prices, let alone didn't give him a new deal.

The only people faulting Gorton for the Stepan trade at the time were those who were convincing themselves that he had better offers on the table that he passed on. Which is, of course, completely asinine.
Well said!

That sounds to me like they want to wait to see if he's claimed before being open about it.

Either because 1) The truth would make a claim less likely

or

2) They don't want to disclose everything if he isn't claimed and stays in the org

We’ll know more in 24 hours? Either they hope he is claimed or they are going to trade him. It sounds like they are done with him.

What a f***ing disaster. This was poorly managed by the front office. If they didnt like the guy and his beliefs they should have let him walk. Or extended him and done everything they could to trade him for something, anything.

I doubt if anyone will simply take the contract on waivers but I do think it will lead to a trade with salary coming back.

Stay tuned.
As long as it’s about the same contract length as Tony’s I’ll chalk it up as a win at this point

Can’t believe I was looking forward to this season. This is reaching Jets levels (only with more talent on paper)

All it takes is a hot streak to get back into playoff contention. Too many players underperforming to not see a bounce back eventually
