Alber is providing as evidence a text screenshot with an unidentified person. He also has ~1k followers and recently became head of a fantasy sports website. This could just be marketing ploy.

let’s just avoid the nonsense and take it straight from the horse’s mouth:

What? Waivers? Wait, what?

It absolutely does. That’s ridiculous to state otherwise.

If you got $20k for a used car, and then spent it all on twinkies, that doesn't change the fact that you got fair market value for your car. You being stupid with your acquired assets doesn't change the fact that you got good value in the first place. Really not a hard concept.

Have you not watched McDonagh play?

He's still MacTruck. His contract is rough and I'm not confident he can mantain his play through it but he's still the same player..
He's also got a clearly defined role in Tampa. Here he needed to be everything. In Tampa Hedman is the everything guy and McD can focus on what he does best which is defend.

Seems like, based on rumors and such, de'angelo started a fight t with a teammate post game causing a bigger teammate (speculation is Kreider) to deck him in defense of his other teammate.
"Bigger" was in quotation marks in the tweet. I read that to mean, more important to the organization/in the locker room

I don’t think this is a perfect analogy. If you sell you car for Twinkies you don’t think you are going to change the perception of your business acumen. Do you think your significant other is going to like that. The first rounder was nice but spent wrong and the player that your choose to finish the offer isn’t looking great either. Gorton picked that offer. Gorton picked DeAngelo as part of the return. His fingerprints are all over this.

As well as the McDonagh+Miller trade.

We got Lundkvist at the least but still. Giving up Miller for Hajek?
Essentiall two of our best players during our contending years, we traded them and ended up with:

Lias (who is now Will Cullye), Tony, Howden, Hajek and Lundkvist. Nils is the saving grace but that’s really bad for trading a top 25 D man and our 1C.

These were basically our two best assets to trade, aside from Nash who was a rental anyway, and we bombed out on the players we acquired and screwed up one of the picks.

I mean kreider is bigger in that concept. He's wearing an A, hes now the longest tenured ranger, and one who I think the franchise wants to retire a ranger.

For all the people who thought Tony’s off ice antics and the general headache he is didn’t matter to the organization...

for all those who said it did, where were the trade proposals?

unreal, this was a rebuild and rather than move out players they resigned them all and now waivers?

where is the leadership? Where is J.D? Gordon and the Head Coach?

And if Kreider, who supposedly was the top trade piece on the market, was resigned then why wasn’t he made the Captain immediately?

What a shiat show.

Six months ago Gorton looked like a genius for buying low on DeAngelo. 90% of this board thought Sean Monahan wasn't a good enough of a return for DeAngelo. Now people are acting like Gorton blew it from the start? It's just more selective memory and evaluating every move with hindsight. It's a waste of time.

Idk, listen I didn’t even wanna trade Tony, I really like him as a player offensively and I think he was better defensively than he gets credit for.

But a lot of ppl acted like his off ice antics didn’t matter. Clearly they did and he’s at the last straw point. It sucks bc we’re basically going to lose a player for nothing, a player whom was 5th in points in his position last year.

As far as his trade value goes I feel like it was always going to be less than it should’ve been because of his office ice issues and because of the general headache he can be. Teams don’t want to give up value to acquire a wild card who can be a headache, even if they’re really good.

Six months ago is a long time. Six months ago they knew the disadvantages with DeAngelo too. They tried to sell high, couldn’t get a taker and gave a dumb contract extension.
90% of the board has blinders for its players. That’s the selective memory.
Gorton was always criticized for that return. When half of the return was a bust at least DeAngelo had a career year on the ice. But DeAngelo is a time bomb, they knew it, and they over played their hand.

hindsight me @SS. Kreider, Strome, ADA and Fast were prime candidates to be traded at the deadline b/c this was a rebuild. We anticipated all of them to be gone followed by putting our faith in management. Now;

- Kreider hasn’t done much and was resigned yet, as the most tenured Ranger, still was not given the C
- Fast walked for nothing
- Strome was resigned has looked like shiat
- ADA was resigned and just put on waivers which will result in nothing in return besides cap space?

Somehow have the feeling that at least one reason for this is the intent to play both Smith and Johnson.

I thought the board was livid the trade was Miller for Namestnikov? Are we moving the target to be more upset?

There were some misses for sure, but let's be consistent or else the argument is nonsense.
