Uh, he clearly did do something so horrible... since, ya know, his team is willing (trying?) to lose him for nothing.

The specific details may be in question, but the whole “I’m going to wait until I get the official explanation to judge” take is something else in this case. The team has already informed us in the starkest possible terms that he crossed a line, and to imply otherwise (much less criticize others for pointing it out) speaks to a desire to reeeeeeeally want to defend Tony...

Obviously, when you find smoke there’s fire.

After his season last year, and sticking in the lineup I felt he’d finally pulled it all together. By all outside impressions, he seemed really well liked by his teammates. Obviously, I was wrong.

Where I take issue, is what are we talking about? Are we talking about an immature guy whose a lousy teammate? Or are we talking about an out and out racist whose an awful human being? There are coworkers I don’t care for, and there might be one or two that I really think are truly bad people.

That’s why I’m fine saying that there’s obviously an issue, but I can’t speak to what that issue is or what kind of person he truly he is.

I don’t think it’s a crazy take to want to withhold my final judgement until I hear more.

Doubling down HAHA. You might as well wrote, I will always consider someone guilty without any facts or evidence because that is the sane and logical thing to do...

So basically your level of evaluating things is Unsubstantiated Hearsay > Actual Evidence. Got it.

Without getting into it, this is what caused #metoo to eventually crash as well. Just because a group is historically been on the shitty end of outcomes doesn’t mean you throw away due process and innocent until proven guilty.

In this case we do know Tony crossed a line and is guilty, but we don’t know what of and allowing hearsay and rumors to fuel judgements is the inverse opposite of how we once had irrational lynch mobs.

I think Tony blew it. He punched his own ticket. I get it. I’m fine with that. He’s a loud mouth. We, as a society need to be less reactionary and less rumor hungry and quick to judgment.

This was Carp's response when he was asked what he thought about the Herman article earlier today btw

Postponed because of snow.

Stay tuned.

Wish Carp would have elaborated.
Same, but I don't think he wanted to start a shit slinging fight with a fan blog during all this

Regardless, I think the recent reports shed all the light needed as to what he was laughing at

Sounds to me like Herman heard that Miller didn't get the his first goal puck and then filled in the blanks to create a story of why he didn't get the puck.

Listen I don’t care for Herman at all but it’s pretty clear to me Carp is laughing at the idea of Quinn being on the hot seat over this
Possibly yeah, could just be laughing at the poorness of the article at all. Maybe he and the guys at that site have had issues, idk

Sometimes, when presented with a statement of unknown veracity, people will immediately say, "I don't believe this. Until I see concrete evidence of this, I will never believe this."

Other people, when presented with the same statement, will take the approach of, "That sounds plausible. I believe this, even though there's nothing conclusive yet presented."

Both views are usually colored by one's personal feelings about the subject matter. As this isn't a court, and we're not really doing anything on here that ends up making a real difference to the people we're discussing, I'm not sure that one approach is inherently "better" than the other. As long as people are willing to acknowledge the evidence presented and change their posture accordingly, it all seems fine to me.

People didn't believe the puck thing because it's bizarre but I know people who know Drew Doughty, and Drew Doughty would do that.

Not for sinister reasons, just because he's mentally in 5th grade.

I like how people are more outraged about Puckgate being apparent 'fake news' than Miller's camp not denying there was mistreatment by DeAngelo.

Why not both???

Deangelo is a shithead and cost this team. He clearly never grew up.

Bad faith journalism is shitty and shares some of the culpability for the public’s increasing mistrust of media in general.

I'm not one to just blame everything on a coach, my criticisms of DQ has been consistent since the beginning. But circling back, I dont believe this event occurs if TDA doesnt get yoyo-ed from the lineup. After a game that pairing had, gotta figure he snapped on Georgi knowing damn well in the back of his mind he'd be getting scratched again. Im not absolving TDA for what he did, but to me this is just another addition to a long list of subsequent consequences of DQs choices and how it effects individual players
