I’d say they’ve been a team that has historically had questions about compete level, flat starts and a “country club” environment, even during the years they had deep playoff runs and were very competitive. There has long been a thing with NYR players not willing to pay the extra price in the corner or battle for pucks. I’m not saying they’ve never played hard or had their stretches, but there have been questions regarding overall compete level fairly consistently for a long time.

That's a cultural problem, and imo a big part of why they drafted the way they did in 2020. You're getting to a point where a Babcock or Gallant would be much better options. Gallant developed Huberdeau and Barkov. Babs, well he's Babs, a guy who is a very big personality, but someone that knows how to coach a flawless game of hockey.

Gallant got railroaded in Florida in one of the dumber analytics moves, and I think that being .500 in Vegas wasn't good enough for their ownership. But both firings indicate that there may not have been 100% cohesion there behind the scenes. You're still going to get an old school guy with either of those two. The question is, can you get the miles you need from this younger generation of player?

Because to me, coaching in the NHL is a hard job, and we're getting to a point where you don't have 30 head guys that can keep up with the speed of the current game, and with this squad, you need a motivator.

My gut feeling is Sam Bennett is a Ranger within the next 2 weeks. When is trade deadline again? It wont involve DeAngelo but maybe something like Gauthier and Hajek and 2ed for Bennett and maybe someone like Dube

dube is a legit future top 6 forward, it will not be someone like dube tossed in such a deal

It’s most likely that ADA is labeled as a distraction and a player like KAM is a pro and wants nothing to do with him especially since he’s a rookie. There is a reason why KAM hangs around players like Kreider and Laf. They are very professional players.

Yes. ADA took the puck. Put it in his jockstrap for the rest of the game. and kept it away from KAM because he hates everyone that's not Italian. A couple of hours later, ADA was leaving with the puck, still in his jockstrap, he hit Zibs with some slurs for his hair length.

He then threw the puck at Georgie who let it go right by him.

DeAngelo will be back in the NHL soon. Perhaps with the Rangers, perhaps elsewhere. Talent always wins. There are people in the league who have done much worse and hang around because they have talent. Want an example? Mike Riberio; 17 NHL seasons.
