I thought it was in juniors and I thought it was homophobic slurs? What's this with AHL and racist slurs? This is the problem with this kind of attacks against Tony. A teenager using terms like fa**ot that's condoned in his household by his parents who uses it and then oh no suddenly you're a racist who attacks black rookie teammates.

I am not going to blindly believe that Deangelo was being a racist and it was covered up and is only being revealed now by one questionable reporter in incredibly vague undertones.

I'm not discounting it as "this would never happen!!!!" but rather that it is quite a waste to jump to that conclusion so quick with so little foundation. There is more than enough to talk about with Deangelo already that has verifiable ground to stand on.

I mean Herman reporting that someone has mentioned they don’t like how Tony has treated K’Andre could technically be true but more in the sense that he’s been an asshole of a veteran to him or has been ragging on him in the room. It doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s racism or anything like that which you know is the implication Herman is making.

Even at his best as far as being a teammate goes, Tony seems like the loudmouth type. So it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s been ragging on the new rookie on D and it’s normal veteran/rookie stuff between the players but that some ppl in the organization don’t like it. Not even trying to defend Tony one iota here I just think that would be the most reasonable truth.

Teammates not getting along is nothing ground breaking. It happens everywhere. The Blackhawks locker room was on the verge of killing one another before they won the cup in 2015. I can buy it.

While he didn't straight up come out and say that DeAngelo was "mistreating" Miller due to his skin color (Hermans smart enough not to throw anything up there to get smacked for libel) he certainly did not go out of his way to state that it WASN'T that. @NYRangers16 took the bait on that one so hard.

It is certainly possible. Deangelo has revealed how little control he actually has over himself. That said, it is far from necessary to jump the gun on this sort of thing. And the bottom line is that Deangelo has already been dealt with regardless. This piece of information actually would not even effect the outcome that has already happened, so it is also somewhat moot.

Absolutely, somebody like Herman could see a black player and say "wow, DeAngelo must have been shitty to him" and it didn't happen. But there's also a reason people think that about DeAngelo and not say, anybody else.

I wonder if there's any chance that something happens with Calgary and Bennett if he clears. I mean would the rangers consider retaining half of his contract and then swapping him for Bennett? Get him out of here and get an asset back that can help them now and can play some center. I have no idea if this would even be possible right now, but I just threw it out there. Something like that would basically mean that for Calgary they could swap Bennett for ADA and not have any additional cap hit for them. It ties the rangers hands financially for 2 years in a way. I'm sure their preference would be for ada to just be claimed, but maybe this could be a fallback in case he isn't?

TDA's behavior can make me believe some of these things.

The racial shit's a different story, I don't trust Herman either, but by putting it out there it might force the team/agents/journos to tell us more about what's going on in the locker room. And it's not impossible with DeAngelo. Might not even be racial shit this time, might just be hierarchy shit and thinking he's so much cooler than the rookies/AHL guys.

I think DeAngelo is a personality that you can deal with on a team when things are going well. He might even go to a playoff team (I'd suggest Canada if I was the agent) and have another great season. But these guys with the Rangers all know how this season is going. You don't want to lose these games in the third period, you don't want to get a coach fired halfway through a season which they're on pace for, you don't want Kaapo Kakko and Alexis Lafreniere to have 3 goals and 0 assists in 16 games. And then at practice every day, there's a guy with zero accountability who doesn't ever shut up.

I would just think there's a difference between having to take on the full cap hit versus taking only 50% of it. and it's been reported that Bennett has requested a trade as well. we would probably actually have to add something else, but who knows. It's just going to be interesting to see how this all plays out
