Well it's a game of centimeters and split seconds. Even in the more low even games, the other team made the Rangers pay for their mistakes, while the Rangers didn't capitalize. Think the guys need to play within themselves and not try to pull off some of the things that Bread or Fox can pull off. I also think that the guys need to learn to use each other more effectively to maintain puck possession. While you have a couple of bright spots, you want to see a cohesive 60 minute game. Kreider had a home plate zinger. Need more from the top line.
A good way for Lafreniere to break out of the slump is just beat a guy and take a shot. There is a clear adjustment from juniors, they played a different way in the Q, and I think Alexis is gifted enough to read the play here in the show. Even if it means F3 duties on the 4th line, I think it can help make the game easier to go in with the mindset of reading the ice and what's about happen, and just solely that before every shift and letting nature take its course.
K'Andre continues to impress. Think he and Trouba need to communicate a bit, or find a way to gesticulate who has got what.
All in all, there is a sense of trying to score the easy goal where the legs aren't moving, and teams are taking away the pass. They are blocking the shot. Chances are going the other way. Gotta fix that imo.
PK isn't great, hate to say it, but penalties and a bad pk can turn this into a pretty short season. The goalies have been scouted pretty hard. BUF looks good. Happy to see that for the market, and for Eich. Cozens is already adding to that team.
The PIT games were a matter of more guys coming to play imo, and a veteran team knowing how to win a game. Sid schooled some efficiency & leadership out there, across his whole team. Came in, did their job, and made it look easy.
Zone entries aren't great either. Not every situation is going to result in a guy getting in with the puck on his stick.
