Think it's worth trying Lafreniere with Rooney and Blackwell for a bit. Kakko's first three strides need to become more explosive and cover more ground. He'll be much harder to stop. Team is currently short on a top 6 RW. Might be something you have to solve through committee. The analytics pick would be Blackwell. It might work out well if he's on with Bread's line. Both Rooney and Blackwell understand what it takes to be a contributing grinder more so than Lemieux and Gauthier.

No wind-ups on slapshots 5v5. Team looks like they are still trying to find themselves. K'Andre's gotta keep skating, team needs another defender that can move the puck up the ice, congrats on the apple. I'd also look at shot charts in wins and losses and if the senior guys have been feeding on the power play and have played a largely perimeter game 5v5. Overall I don't think they are playing like they have their legs underneath them. Somebody's gotta step up and push the pace and play a faster game. Digi's doing his job.

The solution to the top-6 RW spot is simple. It's Julien Gauthier...

Did you read the article I posted a couple of weeks ago written about his extended PEI vacation ? He has been enjoying his time away from the NHL and the high Pandemic areas...and still getting a salary. He as much as said family first . Our province has virtually been Covid FREE...no hospitalization since it started .
That is great news but I still don't understand what it has to do with my point that the Rangers are playing well. I feel like the coaching discussion is only being had because of our record, when in reality we should be 3-1-1. I'm not a super big fan of Gallant anyway. Let him stay where he is at if that is such a good situation for him.

Nothing wrong with Quinn. Yet. It's time to win an ugly one. That's what captains do. (I know, I'm beating my dead horse). Let's see who crashes the net tonight.

I hear what you're saying but I'd try PDG or Gautier there before Blackwell.

I see where you’re coming from and generally speaking you’re right but this year you could say each game has twice more importance even more. Look at Washington they barely lose in regulation. After these two games with Buffalo we arguably have played the three worst teams in the division for a total of 10 points up for grabs. Coming up with with one point so far in three of those games is a little worrying but let’s see how these next two games go

Single game impact on regular season is 1.2%. This season it is 1.8% so we're talking about 0.6% on the ending result. Still not significant enough and with 51 games remaining to play and I'm sure the Rangers will have a "offsetting" results where they would win game they should not have.

Brett Howden showing up to gameday for the next 4-6 weeks

One of the last players we could afford to lose. This means more Howden and Strome. :thumbd: Granted Howden looks a bit better than he did last year, but that's not saying much.

I hate Chytil getting hurt

but I like the idea of Howden getting 3C time right now to see what we have. If this is a development year this is what we need to know

ideally Chytil and Howden are 2 and 3 next year if they show they’re up to it.

you know what else I’d do. I’d put kakko with Mika. I’ve always liked their shifts together.

keep the strome line together right now. Was probably their best game Sunday night.

then go Laf Howden DiGi as your third line.

I like the idea of Laf-Howden-DiGi. Both Howden and DiGi can hunt down pucks and Laf becomes the go to guy on that line for generating offense.
