winnipeg is gonna suck for a long time if players keep fleeing. Whoever they acquire at the deadline won't stay. Their own players, Ros, Troub, Laine all want out. Bad luck of Buff retiring.

my gosh, Winnipeg is on quite a run

Byfuglien stops playing so they can’t even trade him
The Trouba, Lemieux, etx heist from the Rangers
They win the draft lottery only to lose Laf
Now Laine is gone

. . . but they have Dubois for 2 years. Wow.

I believe he's under team control for 4. Not sure that Winnipeg qualifies as the big stage for him though. This trade could blow up for both the Jackets and the jets.

good call

Torts might be on a shorter string if this Laine doesn’t work out. Can hear our fans chirping for a Torts returns with our current coach so popular. I think J.D. likes him

Torts is not coming back here.

Artemi bolted from Torts 1st chance he got. Do you really believe JD is going to cast that shadow over this group?

Not a snowballs chance in hell

You know the chirping and heightened emotional debate will occur if he’s available.

I like Torts but a bit wary his style will wear thin on all these kids.

Both Chytil and Howden have looked really solid this season. I agree that the ream should be looking at centers, and they have to make a decision on Mika, but it isn't far fetched that those two could end up as 2C and 3C.

Chytil needs to continue to improve on faceoffs however.

NYR didnt have a piece like Laine to offer. Would have been Kakko++
Yeah. I'm very ok with not going for the PLD ask. I'm was more thinking out loud about my angst regarding center depth.

In the last 24 hours we've gone from a 60 point center straight to ELITE center.

They won’t win because they don’t have a cup winning team by any stretch. Torts has won a cup
Torts won with an all-star team almost two decades ago. You could say he caught Lightning in a bottle.

He was only past the second round one other time, ever. He is not the coach you win a Cup with.

None of them will win a Cup under Torts.

I don't think thats his fault really. That team isn't that good.

He does have 2 Adams awards, a cup and was behind the bench for arguably the biggest playoff upset in league history. His finger prints were alllll over our most successful teams in the last 20+ years. He's going to end up in the hall of fame so he clearly did something right.

I don't want him back here either, but he's always been able to get the most out of his group everywhere hes been outside of his one year stint in Vancouver.

Both CLB and WPG traded all the guys that wanted out from their respective clubs. In the situation that both teams were in, this was the most balanced trade.

Pretty interesting deal, essentially swapping the 2nd and 3rd overall picks, and a 3rd for Roslovic

Most cup winning teams are really good - that’s how they win.

You could also say he’s a cup winning coach with multiple Adams awards. I don’t want him back here but he’s a good coach in his own way.

Wouldn’t the team be a lot better with Panarin, Bobrovsky, Duchene and PLD?

A lot of players throughout the years have wanted to leave Columbus regardless of the who the coach is. This has been happening long before Torts started coaching there, just look at what happened with Nash.

It's not a big hockey town, they have a hard time attracting free agents, and they haven't been a winning franchise for most of their existence.
