I am all for Eichel. He is locked up longterm. Barkov needs a new deal in 2 years. Pay the piper to get a star Center for the next 5-10 years.

Looks like a lot but Roslavic is not exactly worth a ton and Laine isn't going to sign with CBJ easily. You're potentially talking about moving Laine at the deadline for futures. This isn't a haul even if the player names are fancy.

I used to watch Mika fly around waiting for him to fire that one timer off the left circle. Now I find myself saying "don't get hurt dude" as he skates through the neutral zone lol.
Rangers need to come up with a real stout, long term center plan here. Because if Mika slips on another banana peel out there, this NYR center depth short and long term is real ugly.

Back in the 80’s we would joke around that if you were in the dog house with the coach they would trade you to Winnipeg as punishment. Works out for Columbus that there is Laine there to get back in the deal. Torts is the man.

But secondly, why shouldn’t it be broken down that way when looking at value here?

So lets revise the potential value...

26% Cap retained for 3rd round pick

Is that better? I mean this is what we do, we speculate value. Trying to gauge what was equal to what here.

Both Chytil and Howden have looked really solid this season. I agree that the ream should be looking at centers, and they have to make a decision on Mika, but it isn't far fetched that those two could end up as 2C and 3C.

Chytil needs to continue to improve on faceoffs however.

NYR didnt have a piece like Laine to offer. Would have been Kakko++
