Still digging as of today. Which I can understand. You don’t want something coming out that causes you to have to release him in a month after giving up an asset.
still a simple 1 for 1 with picks off-setting value?

also any word/idea what the org thinks of Hajek at the moment?

In that rumor. "The Leafs would either have to give up Justin Holl or Alex Kerfoot to get Bennett and not sure Dubas will do that."

If I was Dubas I would literally duct tape Kerfoot’s arms and legs together and put him in a cardboard box to ship him to Calgary for Bennett.

They are keeping him and hence playing him. No way he would put it like that if they decided to trade him.

Yep, I think Gorton either has other teams to try and work out a trade or buys him out after season.

Got it, so is it fair to say that a trade is agreed to in principle pending the result of Calgary’s due diligence?

Thanks as always, @Edge

I wish we'd demote Mika to the 3rd line and take him off the PP, is it accountability for everyone except him? Guy is the worst player on the team so far, maybe cutting his minutes will allow him to acclimate better too if he's playing injured or has some sort of lingering effects of Covid

Panarin - Strome - Kakko
Lafreniere - Howden - Buchnevich
Kreider - Zibanejad - PDG
Lemieux - Rooney - Blackwell

PP1
Lafreniere - Strome - Buchnevich
Panarin - Fox
PP2
Kreider - Howden - Kakko
Trouba - Miller

Honestly, you can tell he’s struggling but he hasn’t looked that bad to me. He’s looked snake bitten, over played, and now he’s started over thinking and making some passes that he shouldn’t, or forcing things, because he’s been so snake bitten. He could have like 6-7 goals already this year. I thought he should have had a couple last game and a couple a few games before that. Saying he’s been “the worst” player doesn’t feel right to me. He’s been the worst at finishing and he’s been overused and clearly struggling through it, but he’s still an effective player who is in the right place at the right time. He just can’t buy one.

No. You're complaining about the speculation of a deal being "possibly done soon," per a reputable source, in a thread labeled "speculation." LOL
Nope. I'm making light of the complaining that it hasn't happened yet when there was literally zero promise that it would.

I thought hockey was the greatest classiest sport in the world. Why in this classy sport should we expect someone taking a cheap shot on a player necessitating fighting that's illegal in every other sport (use I know hockey makes it illegal but there's no practical incentive not fight)?

As I always say when this topic comes up- Matt Cooke ended Marc Savard's career. On the ice was Milan Lucic. Also on that team were Zdeno Chara, Shawn Thornton, Adam McQuaid, Byron Bitz and Johnny Boychuk. Somehow even knowing that the Bruins would "keep him honest" and "make him answer the bell" it didn't stop Cooke.

Because the threat a fight doesn't stop someone from throwing a bad hit. Bad hits happened in hockey pre-instigator rule and in the days when there were way more fights.

If someone wants to make a case for fighting that's fine, but the idea that it stops bad hits is just flat out illogical based on the above.

They just said on CBC Virtanen is on the way out
Vancouver wanted some grit, maybe a 3way change of scenery trade with us getting Virtanen, Calgary getting DeAngelo, Vancouver getting Bennett?
If neither want Tony, maybe we could swap Gauthier for Virtanen since Gauthier is clearly not on Quinns good side

Virtanen would be a real solid add
I’ve mentioned this before but we play in the same summer league and have lots of mutual friends, and I can say for a fact that a significant part of his lack of development in Vancouver is the fact he’s around a bunch of his immature childhood friends and getting into trouble, he is not from the best area. Moving across the continent would force him to grow up a little and make it so he’s mostly hanging around his teammates who are at the same place in life and not hanging out with delinquent friends he grew up with
