PLD is a very enticing player obviously but I’m not at all convinced it’s the best asset management for this team to pay a huge premium for him. He’s Probabaly more than we need - which is a good 2C - and ponying up a ton for him isn’t wise imo.

This is just as much as your opinion as it is mine. The only difference is I have a strong feeling more Rangers fans would lean my way because the play on the ice matters.

Strome sucks. He is a 3rd line player in this league. He IS terrible defensively. He takes lazy penalties. Makes poor decisions constantly, with last night being a prime example. Turnover after turnover. Again, last night was no outlier.

But sure, go die on the Ryan Strome hill I guess.

Thats all your opinion, the opinion of people who actually know what they are talking about doesn't line up with it. There's a reason Quinn plays him with Panarin over Chytil, he sees the ice better and compliments his style but you keep focusing on every little hiccup, make sure you just watch him every shift and you can build a case against him to present to HF court, they'll likely find him guilty, but it won't matter because he's gonna line up beside Panarin until there's a better option.

Haha... yeah a Coach has NEVER been wrong before OR played favoritism with a particular player. NEVER. This response is laugh out loud funny. The usage of Howden, Staal, and others over the past couple of seasons means those guys played extremely well too, right? Keep dying on that hill. Putrid rebuttal.

By the way, its not hard to “focus on every little hiccup” when its a constant as the norm to his level of play. Maybe if he stopped playing irresponsibly he wouldn’t be scrutinized so much. But nope, he continues to make the same mistakes. But I get it, some people will defend a guy no matter what. This is one of those players for you. Take the blinders off.

should the Rangers keep playing Georgiev with his game last night?? what if Shesterkin struggles again? in a shorter schedule just go with the hot goalie right.. what are your thoughts? I'd start Georgiev on Tuesday and keep Smith in the lineup.

I would go back to Igor for Tuesday. See how he responds. Then re-evaluate for Friday’s game against Pittsburgh

Really happy for Georgiev you can see he works hard and has great attitude but I have no doubt Shesterkin is the real deal. I would go back to him. Having said that we witnessed already how important it was to keep Georgiev and not trade him for magic beans that JG was offered

If I were PLD or his agent I’d be salivating looking at the NYR lines last night. Could there be a better job in the league up for grabs than the C between Panarin and Lafreniere?

I’m gonna put a stake in the ground and say if / when he gets moved it will end up being the NYR or MTL.

Who else is gonna have the guts to give up a Zegras level prospect not knowing if he will do the same thing and leave as a UFA?

I was always under the impression that we couldn't afford Buch therefore he wouldn't be a long term solution. Can he fit under the cap?

It really changes things if he becomes a reliable 2way player. How much will he want? Extend for 2-3 years then reevaluate?

Robertson is a key piece to the puzzle IMO. Hopefully he develops quickly and can make an immediate impact ala Lindgren

Not reliable, but :

HockeyBuzz.com - Eklund - Dubois Wants to Play For the Rangers with Panarin. (E4)

it is a logical guess between their history together and his reported desire to play on a bigger stage. but given that he doesn't have control, his interest in coming here isn't exactly a key factor at this point

He may not have complete control but he definitely has some degree of control. He determines whether he will sign an 8 year extension next offseason or try to walk himself to UFA. And that conversation will influence which teams will be willing to pony up appropriate assets to CBJ and therefore where he gets dealt.

It's similar to Trouba in that regard, IMO.

EDIT - what is true is I see no way there is any imminent pressure to move him. Could drag on for a long time.

he's got 5 years before he's a UFA...so while the team trading for him would certainly feel better if they feel he'd be willing to sign long term but I'm not sure the risk of losing him after 5 years would be enough to scare away a team if the right deal is there...5 years is a long time.

Isn't it 4 including this year? UFA is 27 or 7 seasons. He has already played 3 full NHL seasons. So needs 4 more.

He is signed for this year and next. Then will have 2 years of RFA control.

That said, your point is fair, which is that PLD has a lot longer window of control yet vs Trouba when he was dealt. I am kind of operating from the perspective that this is going to drag on until at least this offseason possibly longer. Meaning he will have 3 or less seasons of control when dealt.

He gets so pumped. Quite the Celebration.

Ugh... just do it.
