Scratching TDA for a misconduct is over the top. Yeah he tilted, unacceptable. If it happens again he should sit. But to me it looked like he lost his balance being tremendously frustrated with our play, which is good. The fact that the game was lost isn’t totally irrelevant either.

Demoting Kakko the first game of the season is mind boggling. DQ should be ashamed.

Tony's off-ice issues are a problem but they aren't why he got benched. He made a selfish decision and is facing the consequences of his actions. This "people are out to cancel him" stuff is asinine.

Totally, that shit is for the twitterati (btw real word apparently, didn't see the spell-check pop up). It's all about what goes on the ice.

Serious question if Quinn’s moves back fire tonight and the team plays like crap again— how many games do JD and Jeff wait before pulling the plug on Quinn ?

Short season can’t wait 20-25 before making a move at that point the season could be lost—sounds crazy but that 1/3 to half the COVID season.

ok he got benched for the entire third period, for taking a bad penalty in a 4-0 game. then was told to go practice with the ahlers, then benched for a game. No one gets that much of a punishment for a door slam. There’s CLEARLY more to it than that

how many awful penalties did Ryan Strome sit for?

Exactly

Its personal and a smokescreen

-DeAngelo has a history of “unsportsmanlike” behavior on the ice

-Quinn has worked w him including disciplinary benchings / scratches in the past

-DeAngelo objectively took the most “selfish” penalty Thursday

-Quinn needs to set minimum boundaries and assist w developing a culture for the youngest team in the league

= all really good evidence that the reason behind singling out DeAngelo is exactly what Quinn himself said it was.

I feel nauseous waiting for this game. Maybe Delayed hangover kicking in but I have a deep anxiety about this team right now

No no. Must be a conspiracy.

Only way to delay the hangover for longer is to keep drinking.

I think the fact he has a history of this, has been scratched and benched before, and it still hasn't changed is proof enough that it's not going to change no matter what the coaching staff does. This is who he is and what his personality is. Either you accept it or you don't. If you don't then you trade him or get a new coach who does. Scratching him to try and change behavior isn't going to change behavior. It just makes the team worse for the games he isn't playing.

last season = zero behavior issues so let’s not pretend he’s some kind of sociopath k.

“worked with” like he’s working with him by benching him for slamming a door ?

Does the act warrant the penalty ?

-DeAngelo objectively took the most “selfish” penalty Thursday

he was pissed. His team was getting schooled. He was called for a hold penalty that the isles were duplicating all night. It was a weak ass call. He slammed a door and showed his displeasure.

lets remember coach daddy yelling from the bench last season getting his own unsportsmanlike penalty.

oh and the next player who gets called for a similar penalty better sit a game. Odds happening ? Zip.

-Quinn needs to set minimum boundaries and assist w developing a culture for the youngest team in the league

is this minor hockey like midgets Or high schoolers here ?

there’s that word again culture. How about Quinn develop a winning culture lol.

keep in mind It was ADA that was willing to move to his offside to help the team. said “what ever I can do to help the team”

he tried it and it ended quick. Like everything Quinn

and after 1 game and one door slam, he’s scratched. Not buyin it. This is personal with Quinn and defers blame for the awful start on tony.

Plus makes the roster weaker.

smokescreen

@offdacrossbar my first bullet point isn't to call him a "sociopath" but rather to get at that Quinn has been effective with DeAngelo...exactly to your point last year appeared to be the turn of a page.

I defer to trusting the coach who has been effective in wrangling the talent of DeAngelo into great on ice performance with what the right buttons to push are. Have you considered the fact that Quinn could actually be genuinely trying to help DeAngelo with the move? That is how I am choosing to view it.

I am not moving Kakko. No shot.

I do like Jenner, but I dont know how they make the salaries work
For god sakes he’s 20. I remember people ripping MacKinnon, as well as other highly drafted players when they were first starting. Could you imagine how the av’s would look now if they dealt him? Not saying kakko is MacKinnon but he has a ton of talent and good size, let him learn to play the North American game for god sakes. He will adjust, and he’s cost controlled. They only way rangers deal kakko is for part of a package for a legit star (Eichel) who is young and signed. PLD while very good is not near jacks value. The main difference between kakko and Hughes that I see is that Hughes looks like he has more confidence in his game then last year. That will come for kakko if Quinn doesn’t cut him off at the knees

How are the refs rotating through the league games? Did I hear that they will be staying in the divisions they start in mainly? The reason I ask is that it may have been a discussion internally that the players are not to give the refs too hard of a time in general as they will be seeing a lot of the same guys

Fair point!
