No they wouldn't be able to afford both. Trading for him is basically throwing your hat in to the ring for next season and then hoping that he can slide into Zibanejad's spot the year after and you some how find an adequate replacement for the spot that PLD would vacate.

There are plenty of reasons. You don't pay 1.10 on the dollar when no one else is even offering .80 cents. Unless you buy the Kotkaniemi+Gallagher rumor that was floating around a few weeks ago (if it was true, I imagine this trade would have been completed already.)


I don't think you're aware of how limited his market is if hes moved before the offseason.

I rate Lundkvist as the more valuable prospect in a vacuum, but with how deep we are at RD, he's more expendable as trade capital than Chytil is. We just don't have any other potentially high-end centers in the system.

It is 1.10 on the dollar when no one is offering anything close to that, at least to our knowledge.

We have the volume in other areas to make a competitive offer. That should be leveraged here.

PLD is good but he is not Eichel.

I'd wait this one out. Even if they miss here, something else will pop up.
