Just shows what i been saying, everyone can hate on quinn for playing Strome with Panarin but it never occurs to anyone that maybe Panarin likes playing with Strome.
Panarin says what can only be described as a 'I don't hate Strome' comment to a member of the media (praise was for Buch, not for Strome), suddenly on HF Boards: "Strome is Panarin's Personal Pick".

its obvious that Quinn loves Strome, he's like a Howden, Sr. He's going to have a much longer leash.

He's a very good player. Bread was the top offensive player in the league last year. Way better than Draisaitl 5v5, way but it's easier for voters to just read one column. Strome's his guy. Buchie's a 35 goal guy on that line. Strome can slot in on the RW and not miss a beat. You need RH shots that can play C/W, it makes the team more dynamic, opens up different options for different games.

CLB is a smaller market with budgets to manage, it's a dollars in-dollars out scenario. Not 100% but... usually that means the team is disinclined to take on a bunch of salary.

The idea that Smith who has been really solid, is coming out of the line-up is asinine.

Also, if the simple fact is that we are all going to have heart attacks every time Zibanejad takes a fall, then he needs to be traded now and a replacement should be sought after.

More like people should start being exceedingly negative every time he takes a fall. There was three minutes left in the game. For all we know he could have come back if there was more time left. There was baseless concussion speculation on a play that his head wasn't even a factor in.

But yes, Smith coming out instead of Johnson makes no sense.

they won’t move Gavrikov unless they have to. The kid is a legitimate shutdown D. His edge work is fantastic and he takes the body. He also is pretty quick. I’d love to have him.

to get PLD rangers are more then likely going to have to send
-Chytil
-Strome(mostly salary purpose and placeholder for Chytil)
- 1 of Lundkvist, Robertson, Jones, etc I don’t think they would make Schneider available and odds are the jackets will want a cost controlled top 4 D to insulate themselves in case Jones or werenski pull the same shit as PLD or just flat out leave in 2 years in free agency. I think it would be Lundkvist.
1st round pick.

so the question is would you guys pull the trigger on this???

Chytil
Strome
Lundkvist
1st

for

PLD

that’s a lot to give up. Chytil could very well turn out to be a similar player. But PLD is an elite 2c now and has room to grow and a history with Panarin. Me personally, I would pull the trigger, and I’m probably higher on Chytil than most. He’s got size speed and talent. Lundkvist for sure will be a binaries top 4 D for them for many years. Rangers have an abundance of RD and can take the hit there. And the jackets could get another impact forward or D in the mid to late 1st which is most likely where the rangers pick would be. What does everyone think?? What would you do?

Exactly what you proposed

I think he is talking more along the lines of, that quinn never has this team ready to start games. We were NOT ready at all for the 1st game of the season which goes to coaching. The 2nd game i missed bc of football but i know we won decisively, but i believe that win had more to do with the embarrassing fashion in which they lost. then game against the devils we were again NOT ready to start the game. The Rangers may have outshot the devils but WE were outplayed at least in the first period.

Part of Quinn's job is to have this team prepared to start the season and each game. This team has not been ready to start any game so far this season.

The other parts have to do with Jack Johnson still being in instead of getting deangelo back in the lineup and putting your number 1 goalie (shesty) back in for the devils game even though georgiev had a good game against the islanders. These are mostly young inexperienced players and he needs to show that he has his players back and he is not doing that. These are just some of the things that i have seen from quinn in the past few seasons.
We had a better second half of the first against the devils also. I agree the starts have been troubling, but to me it’s not a clear coaching issue - people just start from not liking the coach (partial with good justification) and then filter everything they see to justify that conclusion.

A coach’s job is to organize the strategy and manage the execution of it best they can. There’s nothing about the first few minutes of a game that is more coach dependent than any other part of the game. And the fact is, this league isn’t bad - you can’t expect to clearly win entire games start to finish more than a handful of times a year. Why is it that the starts in particular are a problem for this group? I’m not sure but it’s been a problem since before Quinn, no?

The TDA scratch for the second game I totally agreed with - you need to set boundaries for a young team and show consequences for selfish moves that cost the team. The second game scratch would have been understandable if we had 6 other serviceable D, but since we don’t, it was stupid imo. Smith is way better than JJ and TDA is way better then both.

Starting a goalie after a shutout when it’s not back to back games is not weird or unjustifiable in any way imo. Talbot used to get games after he’d play really well when Hank could have started instead. It happens and it’s not some bizarre choice, especially against a team that isn’t known for being an offensive powerhouse.

CLB also put out a timeline of looking at a PLD trade after this year, so this is going to be around for a while. He's the best value in the league this season, or should be. Chytil's facing his first trade speculation. He's increasing in value and showing legitimacy as an NHLer. Trading card values should be going up too. He'll be growing a beard next.

Shame they went all arcadey with the EA games. They had it nailed for a while, you could play the game like a real group of pros. You'd see it on EASHL. Some of those QC team's made you quit within 5 minutes. Lots of set plays in the offensive zone, 5-Man zone exits with speed.

Gauthier gets so little ice time and manages to generate a good scoring chance by himself at least once a game. I'm not blown away by him or anything, but why isn't he getting a look this year?

Cus he never scores on those chances, and that doesnt show up on the scoreboard

claim Honka, waive JJ, Smith and or PDG to taxi

can waive Honka later if needed, but good RD depth

Ya thats what he said "i don't hate strome". Funny stuff.

BTW content gaps are what leads to whipping boys imo. Think about it, you have an audience that is starved for new/current, and your timing is off. You have a ton of content, if a few seconds gets dissected the way it has been, I think it pushes a new form of engagement that you don't see on traditional TV, that can really amplify the subtlety of the sport. Zoom calls with players, during road trips. I think showing how the players have to go through the lockdown is a good way for them to be role models for kids in the same boat.

A nice living room would work better than a studio for NBC imo and the NHL Network, it's so blue on there... and not a nice shade either. You can sub-segment the broadcasts into different living rooms, kind of like a zoom call with high end production and 4K visuals. Find a way to get 4K out there digitally. The technology has been cheap for a while, all those stimulus checks went somewhere.

This whole Covid thing isn't going to go away until all of society is vaccinated. I'm not an expert, but I'm prepping for two hockey seasons at best. 4K- this is a sport that would look great in 4K.
