The injury concerns with Mika are one of the reasons I’m quicker to pull the trigger on PLD.

If you can find a way to make cap work (and Mika’s been relatively healthy) and are able to keep both, great. If Mika’s health is too questionable to give him the kind of money he’ll require to re-sign (or he’s just too expensive) at least you still have a 1C in PLD. He’d be 24 at the time, likely to have continued improving from where he is now, and has history playing well with Panarin. If Mika’s injuries become a major concern or he’s too expensive and we don’t hold on to him, Chytil becomes the defacto 1C. I doubt Chytil will ever be truly able to fill that role; at best he’s a mid-tier 2C.

With PLD you’re looking at potentially:

Zib/PLD/Chytil/Howden >> PLD/Chytil/Barron/Howden

Without PLD you’re looking at:

Zib/Strome/Chytil/Howden >> Chytil/Barron/Howden/??

We can’t afford to be that thin at center. Wing and RD depth aren’t as important to winning as good center depth. We have 3 NHL RD plus 2 prospects who all look like top 4 caliber. We have 5-6 (depending how you view Gauthier’s potential) wings at the NHL level and at least 1 more prospect who have top six potential.

Even if Chytil were to be included in the deal, you’re better off having at least a known quantity 1C in PLD should Mika leave, and having to find your 2C, much like the situation we’re in now, than holding on to Chytil, having him maybe become a full fledged 2C but letting Mika go and having no legitimate 1C on the roster or in the system.

The first three games of the year don't count? Guess not. His team never being ready to start a game?
Not sure what you mean. Coaches play with lines to start the year, especially when they have a number of new players. After a terrible first game, they beat a good Isles team decisively and then badly outplayed the devils and lost due to a hot goalie last night.

True. Chytil has been good when called upon to play more minutes and he’s got the goods so he is definitely not a finished product as well. Not by a long shot. But I would do the deal for PLD as well. I just don’t see any way rangers and jackets make a deal without Chytil going the other way. They are going to want a young center back With PLD gone. I think kakko to CBJ is a non starter despite what you may have read. IMO the only way rangers entertain dealing kakko is for an established star like Eichel or Barkov with an extension

The idea that Smith who has been really solid, is coming out of the line-up is asinine.

Also, if the simple fact is that we are all going to have heart attacks every time Zibanejad takes a fall, then he needs to be traded now and a replacement should be sought after.

Well, the fan base could also calm the f*** down and not scream CONCUSSION every time someone so much as breathes on him.

I think he is talking more along the lines of, that quinn never has this team ready to start games. We were NOT ready at all for the 1st game of the season which goes to coaching. The 2nd game i missed bc of football but i know we won decisively, but i believe that win had more to do with the embarrassing fashion in which they lost. then game against the devils we were again NOT ready to start the game. The Rangers may have outshot the devils but WE were outplayed at least in the first period.

Part of Quinn's job is to have this team prepared to start the season and each game. This team has not been ready to start any game so far this season.

The other parts have to do with Jack Johnson still being in instead of getting deangelo back in the lineup and putting your number 1 goalie (shesty) back in for the devils game even though georgiev had a good game against the islanders. These are mostly young inexperienced players and he needs to show that he has his players back and he is not doing that. These are just some of the things that i have seen from quinn in the past few seasons.

Is Stromeanov better than or equal to Strome?

But seriously yes he needs another talent injection, I guess Panarin isnt enough to spark Strome anymore.

Just shows what i been saying, everyone can hate on quinn for playing Strome with Panarin but it never occurs to anyone that maybe Panarin likes playing with Strome.
