The more I think about it... The more I think Mika is the player that goes the other way in a PLD deal.

Cap wise, it makes sense, trade some prime Mika years for lower salary and more years from PLD.

I don't think Columbus has any interest in futures.

Dubois for Tony D, Strome and Kravstov. Kravstov may never play for the Rangers. He seemed unhappy and might want a fresh start somewhere else. Fair or not? Dubois slots right in at 2c. We can live without Tony and we have a lot of kids coming up that need a slot. Can Nils come over next season?

What is Columbus adding?

Columbus isn't going to have any interest in a guy who can walk away after next season either.

Tony Chytil and a first round pick and that’s a crazy overpayment as it is. The first should be the sealer if you even need to add it.

I

From my perspective I’d rather offer someone like lundkvist or Schneider than kratsov.
Our prospect depth is on the defensive side rather than forward and if we decide we can’t afford buch, then not having Kratsov in 2 years will really hurt.

Not argument from the Rangers perspective but if Columbus takes ADA then they’d go after a forward prospect rather than another D.

Way too much.

This is a package that'd be offered for Eichel if the Rangers were to go that route.

That package gets you hung up by Buffalo unless they’ve agreed to trade him to the rangers and ruin any trade leverage they have.

Tony ain’t got value like that

At least not to Columbus

then they’re idiots.

They have zero offense and he’d slot in perfectly behind Jones and run their pp. one of the top scoring dmen in the league last year completely transforms your back end. He’s an ass but torts would love him. Same personality frankly same politics.

if we didn’t have Fox there’s no way we’d entertain moving DeAngelo. Not ever

Gut feel, I'd just keep Chytil.

I can’t argue with this. We won’t give the kid real mins so hard to see what we really have. If Dubois at 21 was getting 10 mins on the third line and no pp time would he be where he is? Kid got to solidify himself next to panarin

Oh absolutely, I think it’s a big reason why I don’t think we match up well with cbj without a third team.

I really think a 3 way trade using LA would work well. They’re crazy deep on center prospects but lacking high end d.
Strome + say zac Jones to LA.
Rangers 1st + vilardi/turcotte and maybe deangelo to cbj
Rangers get pld.

I’m not sure what a good deal for Dubois looks like. Chytil seems to be the starting point, after that’s a bit more murky.

They’d have to send back salary, so you’re sending back one of Strome/Buchnevich/DeAngelo

Tough to pin down what else at this point

Or the Rangers could just offer Chytil who’s better than both those guys easily

Stop trying to give away Kravtsov folks.

I don't think Chytil will be a better, or more complete player, yet the possibility that he may end up close enough without the much larger cap hit, I think needs to be a consideration too.

When you’ve got a 27 year old super star center and complete studs on the wings he probably doesn’t need to be right? And to your point the cap savings may very well outweigh the difference.

Just throwing this out there but after seeing the league basically let Tampa and the Isles get away with squeezing their RFAs for “whatever they had left under the cap,” gives me hope that the league will also back off our RFAs when the time comes.

The problem is chytil is older and doesn’t have the upside that either of those have.
additionally being able to walk away with pld without losing chytil will make it palatable if Mika can’t be signed to a contract.

More answers somewhat soon I suppose. Which I kind of enjoy, the players over this season from now til deadline will probably make management's choices either easier or tougher.

well Chytil isn’t older than gabe vilardi. Same draft think Chytil is younger actually and a better player. He’d go ahead of him every time in a redo. Turcotte IMO is extremely overrated I don’t think he’s a better prospect than Chytil who’s already got 100 plus nhl games under his belt at 21. He’s more valuable IMO als
