Kyper and MacLean discussed Torts’ comments and Dubois situation today. Caught the end of it.

They speculate Jarmo has to be pissed at Torts for those comments. No surprise there.

They also speculated that Montreal is the end game, maybe Winnipeg because his Dad Eric is “an executive in the organization”.

Googled it myself and see that Eric Dubois is an assistant coach for the AHL Manitoba Moose. That relationship having significance here seems like a stretch to me.

Laine for Dubois was mentioned but shot down. They believe Columbus would need a C back, which again potentially makes sense RE Montreal.

My 2 cents:
-I would deal Kotkaniemi for Dubois if I’m Montreal. Dubois is the finished product of what you hope Kotkaniemi becomes and you still keep Suzuki.
-If NYR are players would prob need to include Chytil and then win the bidding war w more.

The bottom line is that the players see that Torts aren’t delivering. They constantly draft high and well, been “rebuilding” forever. They have gathered a ton of really solid character players. But they have won like one PO round in 5 years?

I don’t think many successful coaches ever would consider adopting the same style as Torts has his teams playing, they would surely tell you that it’s a style that really is unlikely to get you results in today’s game. Torts a master at holding his players available, but as a result the players will hold him accountable too. Why stay there?

I will be shocked if any offer from the Rangers without Chytil is even considered. I just can't see Columbus not insisting on that.

Now, what else would need to be included (or whether any of this is the right approach) is another discussion.

But I would assume your point is somewhat of a given. For better or worse.
Chytil should absolutely not be untouchable for PLD

It's gonna have to come at the expense of Kotka.

But who knows how Jarmo feels about him. For all we know, he prefers some of our guys?
Could be, it just seems like Bergervin is gonna go ga-ga to get a young French Canadian star here and end up dropping whatever it costs, plus if Kyper is right PLD wants Montreal, so it just kinda feels like one of those things that are bound to happen.

It’s cool though, there will be another center for us to trade for.

It’s a decent package. However, it’s not entirely enticing in that there is no centerpiece of this deal for CBJ. Buchnevich doesn’t have a ton of value, neither does Chytil (IMO at least) and neither does our 1st.

Its decent value IMO but I see another team offering up something more valuable.

We will agree to disagree on Buchnevich value

I think deAngelo will be the "value piece" in any deal we'd make with CBJ

And honestly, I've said it before.. I don't add much to that. Value is pretty close imo.

I'd have a hard time adding Chytil to ADA

If the team was set on signing a random defenseman (ie JJ) their priority should have been a Finnish born player. There has been no investment made to ease the transition of a 2nd overall pick who is a teenager learning english in a foreign country during a pandemic. He is a lost puppy

I don't think people are prepared for how bad our team would be without DeAngelo carrying a pairing on defence. It would be one thing if Trouba could do it, we sure are paying him to do it, but he hasn't done it at all during his time as a Blueshirt.

I don't know why this jammed itself into my head last night, but do any of you stat gurus know what NYR FORWARD, lets say in the last decade, (other than an obvious enforcer) has started their career with the Rangers and gone more than 20 consecutive games without a goal? This is off the top of my head as I'm typing and guessing. Maybe Fogarty? Paille? I have to be blanking on some obvious players right?

My point. Big fan of Julien Gauthier but I think he's at around 16 games as a Ranger and 21 total in the NHL with zero pucks in the bucket. Its gotta be only a handful of games more before we are cruising up to some kind of record in futility by a player STARTING their career as a Ranger forward.

I hope the first goal by a Ranger this season ( better be on Sat) is potted by Julien. Want to put this dumb curiosity about some record by him put to bed and out of my head lol.

I hope everyone has figured out, most notably Julien that he isn't a goal scorer and for him to become an nhl regular he needs to work on being a bottom 6, pk, crash and bang type player, otherwise all he is is a big body who skates fast.

Yup. I still want to know if he is going to break some record soon, whatever his projections may be. I'm actually not down on the guy at this point, I just am oddly curious at what Ranger forward, (rookie or veteran) joined the Rangers and immediately went over 20 straight games without a goal. Obvious "enforcers" excluded.

KK and Gallagher is the rumor...
Weird to see them trade gallagher, he's a huge part of their locker room and core. When PK was traded the reports were the room had fractured into PK's side and Gallagher's side and that the organization chose BG's side.

I’m not surprised about the D struggles. Even Fox was horrendous. Johnson and Keandre were major culprits. Not sure what KeAndre did in camp but he clearly couldn’t handle the pace, let alone top pair to start.

I’m more disappointed with the offense. Our top 9 was invisible. The lack of energy and grit might really bury this squad in many games the year.

Nerves, i thought it was ambitious to start him on the top pairing, kinda felt Smith should start there and shelter him a bit until he gets the butterflies out and gets used to the speed of things. I honestly thought he looked scared to make a mistake and wasnt trusting himself. I can remember one play where he would have normally carried the puck up but he instead forced a pass into a bad area, ive been there before, sometimes when you see someone like Panarin on the ice you defer to them as a safe play even if its the wrong one.
