I think rangers are fighting for 3rd or 4th. I dont see caps holding up, their team is a team of middle aged dads. CHARA can be a grandpa as well. Flyers are 1st or 2nd imo. They have young talent too and av is gonna make em good for a while before they burn out. Although look at giroux. Age already is slowing him down. Bruins have sus defense and prob are gonna be like 8slanders in that they play their system well. Playing them 8 times, the coaches have to find flaws in their system. They're old and they already kind of see their window closing. Devils prob compete next year. I think islanders will be annoying but if our offense holds, qnd kandre trouba works, then our d and offense should overtake them. Pens are falling apart, rutherford wants to milk the most out of crosby while he can still be the player he is. Who else? We have the sabres, but they have a losing culture and thats rlly hard to change. There are a lot of x-factors, but we have a case for a spot in the division. Development isnt linear, same thing as last year- if the kids step up, we are gonna be winning games.

At least in my oppinion, those teams were far more in a turmoil than Rangers are currently.
I don't get this rush to give the C to Laf. Is it because he's the first 1OA (in a long time) for this franchise? Because he is projected to be a good player?
How about we don't put a ton of pressure on the kid, who is not expected to become the top dog player of this team in the first couple of seasons anyway.
They weren't.
Pittsburgh finished 5th in the east and got blown out in the 1st round by Ottawa (who went on to the SCF) the season before Crosby was named Captain (They lost in the cup finals his first year as Captain, won the whole thing in his 2nd)
The Hawks narrowly missed the playoffs and had an 88 point season - Toews was named Captain right after that and the rest is history (WCF and then the first of their 3 cups.)
Landeskog was named Captain after an 88 point season too. They completely shat the bed the next season though.

I guess I was looking it more in terms of their players than their actual positioning through the league.
Look, if Laf hits it right out of the gate and is a superstar, then I guess why not. I still wonder how that would effect guys like Zib, who have been here much longer.
For all I care, they can roll with A's for the next decade.
I don’t think the guys care that much. See Kreider’s quote above this post. I think if Laf comes in and has that obvious “it” factor they’ll just be happy to have a special young player on the team.

I wonder if DQ will start his line tomorrow? I guess not a big deal. The big deal is that this team has added more young talent that I have ever witnessed in my many many years as a Ranger fan. So excited.
