It is going to be interesting to see how this Rangers roster reacts to a season full of what I see to be some very testy and physical games. 8 games with their rivals. There are some very physical teams in the division. Tempers will boil over, especially when playing these 3 game series. Depending on how much publicity this drums up, I can see the NHL doing some sort of a realignment and go back to focusing on rivalries.

Surprised to see Panarin get an A

I think players who lead by example are deserving of an A, not a C. Panarin is the best and most consistent player on the team. He gives his everything every night. Easy decision.

I think the writing is on the wall. If Lafreniere has a stellar rookie season, that C is his for the taking.

Panarin would probably have the C if not for the language barrier.

It's not so much dealing with the officials, but facing the media and all of that other BS. I'm not saying its right, but I don't think the league is ready for that yet.

Lafreniere will be named Captain before the expiration of his ELC.

I seriously doubt that.

I seriously doubt that.

Lafreniere has been billed as the rare combination of superstar upside and exceptional leadership. As our insiders have commented, the belief in the organization is that he’s that rare breed of everything you want in a captain. Having passed on Zibanejad and Kreider for another year, I think it’s pretty evident that they want to see if those assumptions prove true.
