FKA Roo Returns...Still A Contrarian Apparently
I'm fine with the top nine but a 4th line of Lemiuex with Howden and some AAAA player isn't going to cut it.

So Brooks pumping Barons tires I see. Working out w Kreider . Would be great to see him earn a spot on the team
I really hope Quinn uses the 4th line
Them not messing with Kravstov until the KHL season is over is the right move
I was going to make a joke about them taking Lindbolm in the 1st as opposed to the 2nd, but he was 2018

Hoglander?Outside of this board, Barron might be the player who most casual fans aren't really paying attention to right now.
I think he has a legit shot to make this squad, and the Rangers are certainly hoping that he pushes talent like Howden or Lemieux.

Why does Barron have big performance bonuses as a 6th round pick?
Because he had some negotiation power coming out of college based on his numbers
Gotcha. I thought a lot of it had to do with draft position, but apparently players can negotiate on that.
Straight out of the draft, the bonuses are somewhat determined based on draft position but after the college career Barron had, it makes sense that he negotiated for more bonuses
I would trade Nils Lundqvist for Turcotte right now. Or a similar highly rated center prospect. Center and RD are the 2 hardest positions to fill on a team. I don’t think DeAngelo breaks the bank here. The loss of nils would suck but Schneider mitigates it.I'd say your two most likely candidates are ADA and Lundkvist --- albeit for different reasons.
ADA is an NHL-level player, but one will who require a corresponding salary. So any deal there is more likely going to be for someone in a similar are/salary range.
Lundkvist doesn't carry that same salary, but he also doesn't carry the NHL level accomplishments either. Any deal for him would likely be focused on a similarly aged player, or would require a follow-up move if he's traded for someone with a decent salary. Because otherwise you're looking at having to pay for a youngish/prime second line center AND whatever you pay to ADA.
To that last point, that's one reason I tend to think the business aspect of things is likely to mean that ADA is the sacrafice at some point. Looking at how the roster is likely to shape, you're going to instances where the Rangers will be looking to backfill with cheaper contracts.
everyone has to understand a thing about players. Some guys play in the league really well. They get to the garden and they aren’t as good as they were before or can’t take the pressure of playing in the big stage of NY. We have seen it time and time again. Not only does tony D play well, he plays in New York well. He skates around on the ice like he’s got the biggest swinging D... in the building. Don’t get it twisted, that moxy or brashness or whatever you want to call it makes the other guys around you try harder and play better. Wilson has it in Washington, Marchand in Boston is another and Tony has it for us. That’s the main reason why I’m really hesitant to deal him. He has shown he can deliver on the big stage and is very well liked in the room as a teammate. When the going got tough for him, he didn’t cry, pout, or demand a trade. He buckled down and worked harder and improved every year. DeAngelo could play on my squad any day of the week, I wish we had 3 more just like him in various positions
or just move him to the left side.......So are you prepared to trade Fox? or buyout Trouba’s 8m long term deal? Because that’s the result of what you wrote.
or just move him to the left side.......
ive spoken numerous times that people seem to think its impossible to play the off wing or off handed d spot.....its a joke that people seem to think that a player just forgets how to play hockey when they switch sides of the rinkWhich he hasn’t played in how long? It’s a fantasy that he can do that effectively. If I’m wrong about that, then we keep him obviously.
Tough to fit him in under the cap at 1.775m. Not impossible, but they would have to send down Blackwell and Rooney to make it happen
ahh yes the guy who was one of the best rookies in the NHL this season and who basically told two teams he won't play for them because he wanted to play for the rangers is going to get traded by the rangers within 3 yearsI wouldn't be afraid of trading Fox. He's the likely piece after his ELC to go for a real deal under-25 top-6 C.
