Stuff like this would be great, but it’s extremely unrealistic to expect to have a fully homegrown defense. It just never pans that way. Trouba most likely won’t go anywhere. Fox will probably prove to be the most untouchable of the puck movers on the right. We may see Lundkvist for a couple of years and then have Schneider take the third RH spot, one could switch sides, Lundkvist could be too good to move while he’s cheap... you never know. On the left, it’s possible we have more than one homegrown guy, but I also don’t think we’d go with as green of a defense as this. Whether it’s Trouba staying (which I think is most likely for at least 4+ years) or adding a veteran on the left (which I think is also likely, regardless - because we won’t wait for Robertson, Miller, et al to be ready to be big minute full time NHLers if KK, Laf, Zib, Bread, Kreider, etc are all producing prime numbers - if Laf, KK, Fox, Shesty, etc have us looking competitive they’ll look to bring in an established D while Zib, Bread, etc are still prime) I doubt we will ever see a full back end of current rookies/prospects. It’s just unrealistic.
I think it’s more realistic than yours, time will tell - I’m looking 4 yrs down the road btw

Has Exp draft date been set?
Not outside of "June 2021" but that was pre-COVID so that may change.

Once they figure out the timeline for the next season, and the off-season following that, the Seattle expansion draft will be figured out. Should be before the draft/free agency, though I could see them having the draft before it if the timeline gets funky.

Sign a couple of diverse UFA guys like Koekkoek and AA to “bargain bin, show me deals” at around $1 M to finalize the roster. If anyone young steps up and claims a spot, then all the better. Let Kravtsov come over after his AHL season is done - thereby avoiding ELC cap penalties. Lotsa call up depth available in HFD then too. Give developing players successively larger roles if they earn it. Consider it a very good offseason.

Next year the team then gets very interesting with lotsa possibilities (with guys like Kravtsov, Barron, Miller, Robertson and Lundkvist all hopefully competing for tangible spots - along with a considerable amount of theoretical cap space) - on paper especially...

Player A is 21 years old, with 26 goals and 49 points in 144 games played, to go along with a minus 34.

Player B is 22 years old, with 15 goals and 42 points in 136 games played, to go along with a minus 27.

Taking the names off the bottles, I think most people are probably surprised that the results are as close as they are.

Need the names. I like these comps

Our FO came in at 5th in The Athletic's rankings. 4th among opposing fan bases and 8th by our fan base (each fan base ranks their own and the score we gave ourselves was eighth-best).

2020 NHL front office confidence rankings: Fans weigh in on every team

"New York jumped into the top 10 last season and has now climbed into a top-five after a strong season that showed promise of the team’s future as a contender. Signing Artemi Panarin was a slam-dunk as he ignited the team toward playing meaningful games down the stretch. The prospect cupboard is well-stocked now, which bodes well for the future of the franchise as does some strong lottery luck, but developing those prospects has proven a little tricky. That’s still an issue here and may hold the Rangers back from reaching their full potential."

Cap management was everyone's biggest issue with the team.

I really hope Howden and hajek can establish themselves. Would be nice to say we have one player from the infamous Mcd and miller trade.

Agree, I would love to throw Brassard into the mix and give Howton some time in HFD.

Nils Lunkvist is a pretty nice player. Howden will be fine, on the fence with Hajek. We saved a bunch of cap space we used to get Panarin and Trouba so there's that too.

I hope other people are less confused about their handiness than I am. Early on I always considered myself left-handed but with a bigger inventory I’m all over the place and don’t see a pattern. I’m a lefty when it comes to writing, playing tennis or ping pong, or controlling / kicking a soccer ball. Definitely better to serve or spike a volleyball with my left. On the other hand I’m a righty when it comes to holding a hockey stick, golf club, baseball bat or shooting a basketball.

Always been well coordinated physically when playing sports.
Yeah, this is me, but the other way around.

If I use one hand, it's my right. If I use both, I tend to go to the side considered left.

Always the risk with future's trades.

The assets we received ultimately resulted in Howden, Hajek, Lundkvist, Henriksson and whoever the Rangers take in 2021 with the Sens fourth round pick.

Howden's in the NHL, Hajek is trying to figure out the pro game, Lundkvist is one of the upper tier defensive prospects in the sport, and Henriksson is a B-level prospect right now. I'd say if the Rangers get two NHL-level assets from that deal, that's probably about on par. Three would be doing very well, and more than that would be a grand slam.

Lafreniere-Zibby-Buch
Kreider-Chytil-Gauthier
Man when does hockey start again?!
Can’t wait to see Lafreniere with Zibby and Kreider riding along with Chytil.

He plays on the right side though
That’s what I’m saying even more depth. Schneider is prob 2 years off at the most. A lot of scouts think he is pretty close to being nhl ready. Obviously trades are going to have to be made because of the log jam of talent on the right and ultimately on the left as well.its going to be tough to accommodate the minutes for the personnel we have now, not to mention the salaries they will garner and the new kids that are drafted in the next 2 years. I can see fox having the potential to be a legit 1st pair D. I don’t know if his body will be able to handle playing against the NHL top players night in and night out plus running the PP if or when DeAngelo is shipped out. One things for sure, players will be tried on their offside, trades will be made but beyond have Fox and trouba we have no clue how this is gonna shake out. Schneider could make the switch as well no?? Wasn’t it said he can play LD? A Schneider Fox pair would be intriguing to me as well. Who knows. That’s why we can’t get all worked up thinking to far down the line. 2 years ago RD was a weakness now look at it. And that’s after trading Keane one scenario can be
Schneider -Fox
Miller/Robertson- Trouba
Lindgren-DeAngelo

still with a lot of really good left overs. You can overpay on the right a little if your left D will mostly be ELC and Bridge deals for 5 years or so. Too many questions not enough answers yet

If Lundkvist ever gets here and after a year or so becomes a 4-6 defender....then that would be like a base hit to Stevie Y hitting the grand slam in getting the two top guys in the trade from us for basically peanuts and scraps/marginal dime a dozen guys as they look right now .....4th rounders ...4th line centers...depth chart 6th-7th defensemen[Henriksson/Hajek]....TB gets another Cup and Miller has 6-7 great seasons then Gorton will be mentioned in the same breath as the management who traded Middleton and Park in two of the worse deals in Ranger history .

If we are to blame for Miller exploding after being traded twice, then TBL are to blame for ADA exploding after being traded twice too. I'm also pretty confident that's going to end up being an outlier year for JT.

Trades for picks and prospects are about probability. We could end up having gotten a much better return for a Rick Nash rental (accidentally) than McDonagh and miller. Thats just random error inherent in stats.

Also, Nils is talked about as potentially having top pairing potential, so 4-6 isn't his peak.

I'm not sure what grand slam there is for Tampa.

They traded Miller a year after getting him (and after demoting him to the 4th line). McD has settled into a second pair defenseman that they are going to be paying for a while. He's one of the guys who probably benefitted the most from having a break in the season because he was again hurt heading into the playoffs.

And for that, Tampa also shelled out 8 figures worth of salary, in addition to the assets. And the only Ranger they have to show for it, was the above mentioned McD and the boost he got from a break.

Even if things don't work out, which is a distinct possibility that's always existed, this isn't Middleton/Park. We need to take it down a notch or three here.
