Uh... our wings ARE a strength.
Not on the Right. Moving Buchnevich creates a really big hole and makes the Rangers even more top heavy at the NHL level; especially if you have to move Kreider to plug that. They can’t exactly sign a guy.

Maybe don't need a center back if they can get Granlund.

Buchnevich, Strome for picks.
Sign Granlund.
Sign Hoffman for 1 yr to play with Panarin. If he's looking for a 1 yr, can't imagine a better spot than that to maintain or increase production.
No one has money. This isn’t happening.

So the Rangers have $10,879,367 projected cap space by CapFriendly, but subtracting the current Bonus Cushion Penalty of $3,950,000 means we have $6,929,367 to sign both Strome and Lemieux correct? Figuring Lemieux around $1.5M would leave $5,429,367 for Strome, and the Rangers probably want at least a small amount of wiggle room. Anything over $5M is bad news.

the bonus overage is really only an issue for day 1 to be compliant but its highly unlikely that all of the bonuses will be earned so that will give us space to operate during the year imo

So they can start the year with 12 forwards and 6 defensemen, then call up 13F/7D after Game 1?

No, I think the Rangers are focused on getting these contracts settled first.

I think there’s a heck a lot of salary range they could be looking at with someone like Strome. And that’s a challenge right now.

Thanks, dude. Sorry to bother you all the time :), but if I may, just one final question (for the week :X): Any update on Granlund? I know you said we submitted an offer.

If he had an update, and assuming it's one he could even share, I think he would have given it. Why do you go out of your way to pester?

It's only the bonuses that can't be reached. So that makes it trickier. We know with 10 games left that Kakko can't play an additional 20 games, but is another 30 goals is mathematically unreachable? Who's to say he can't win the Hart? I don't think we can apply common sense to the bonuses, so they won't clear as much space midseason as they should.

Supposedly he has a couple of offers on the table. He could be waiting to see what certain teams do. I think if the Rangers got to a point where they walked away from Strome, those conversations could definitely intensify --- assuming that he thinks the Rangers present a good opportunity to re-establish his value.

Thanks Edge. Always much appreciated.

Playing with Panarin did wonders for Strome and would only help Granlund.

They've already messed around with Kreider on the right.

It's not as big a deal as you're making it.

anyone else think Fox is the logical pick to play LD?

put him with Trouba bc he can handle the tougher matchups.

Lindgren or whoever plays best of the LHD with DeAngelo.

i doubt they move Buch until they at least know if somebody like Kreider can play RW.

I love Boyle but he is cooked.

I actually disagree. He may not be what he once was but if he is making under 1m, he is still capable of at least league average defensive play, is good on draws, and can score 10-15 goals while bringing leadership and veteran stability to a young dressing room.

We wouldn't be getting prime Boyle who could play a similar role to Fast (in the sense he can play wing on another line and be counted on in defensive situations while still getting you 30 points), but I think he's still a useful 4th liner if he can stay healthy.
