Lemieux better figure out how to penalty kill

Howden Mika will continue to do it.

Chytil got reps there at the end I’m assuming that’s going to be added to his job description.

Gauthier I don’t know if he has it in him.

Rooney is a good pker don’t know yet if he’s an every gamer.

so you’ve got very little there

is Strome going to really come back? He’s an awful pker

I'm pretty sure Gauthier spent time on the PK when he was playing for Charlotte and was decent at it. His reach at least would make it worth giving him a shot.

You realize Lemiuex has a career total of 40 minutes on the PK? Promising PPGA/60 but that total TOI is a bit premature to say he's arrived on the PK scene. I hope he gets a lot of education for JM

Yeah but basically all of those minutes came last year.

He handled what he was given well. I don't know why he didn't get more time over guys who clearly can't kill penalties.

Is Haula a top 6 C? 4 million per or so?

They could trade Strome and sign him if the Strome contract is getting higher than they like ...just a thought

I’m also thinking they are trying to deal Smith who’s real money is 2.5 ish for a guy w a lesser cap hit but same money

No way I give Haula that much, especially in this landscape. He has had to battle some injuries and recover from surgeries.

$2 million max would be my offer.

I agree dealing Smith would be best. Opens up money to sign 1-2 guys and make the overall team deeper.

I think Hajek/Miller will be in the lineup on Opening Night. Wild Cards are Kravtsov and Barron. I don't think Howden is a Ranger next season, and I think Buch will be moved between now and the next draft.

That lineup is pretty much what I'd expect as things stand today...but I think that Bitetto will also be on the roster all year, possibly carrying 8 dmen, for expansion draft purposes. Right now he is the guy closest to meeting our exposure requirements needing just 19 games (assuming that they don't adjust the limit for the shortened seasons). Hajek would need to play 40 games. Its unlikely that someone would claim him on waivers but with no other exposure options I wouldn't risk it.

I could see a scenario where they start the kids in hartford for the first month...let Bitetto play early to get him to the 70 games and then call up one of Miller/Tarmo/Hajek after they've had a month in the AHL And then we don't have to worry about being forced to play someone to meet the requirements late in the year.

Any cheap UFAs that can kill a penalty and win face offs ? The 700 k list of signings will fill up eventually

Agree. Minus a horrid camp, I have Bitetto in opening night and a regular on D next year.

So...Strome is likely going to be the 2C again? :( I mean we have assets to trade for one, but yeah...

@Edge, have you heard of anything that we're doing post-TDA deal?

No, I think the Rangers are focused on getting these contracts settled first.

I think there’s a heck a lot of salary range they could be looking at with someone like Strome. And that’s a challenge right now.

Really feel like this is a league wide thing which is resulting in a bunch of UFAs hanging in the wind. Obviously some teams need to make trades, but RFA negotiations have to be the reason there have been very little moves the last few days. Ottawa made a move, but they have a crazy amount of space.

The good news is that they locked in Georgiev and DeAngelo to their deals and know pretty much where they stand. Lemieux should not be hard to find the range. If they can get something hammered out with Strome, or not, they'll know if they can dip their toes back into UFA.

Do we know if they walk from Strome if they are interested in Granlund/Haula as a stop gap or is this a trade to fill in that center spot?

I think the Rangers are at least aware that they may be walking away from Strome depending on what decision comes down.

At this point, I think they'd prefer to reach a one year deal with Strome, hang onto him for a year and either use him as their rental, or move him at the deadline.

Granlund is an option for them, but I think he's more of a Plan B for them --- or possibly an option if they move Buch.

So the Rangers have $10,879,367 projected cap space by CapFriendly, but subtracting the current Bonus Cushion Penalty of $3,950,000 means we have $6,929,367 to sign both Strome and Lemieux correct? Figuring Lemieux around $1.5M would leave $5,429,367 for Strome, and the Rangers probably want at least a small amount of wiggle room. Anything over $5M is bad news.

Do you think it’s a possibility that the rangers walk away from strome and trade Buch for a center to replace with what they lost in strome?

That's with 14 forwards, which is unlikely. We really have around 7.7M in cap room

Don’t like filling a hole by creating another hole. Have to trade from a strength.

Maybe don't need a center back if they can get Granlund.

Buchnevich, Strome for picks.
Sign Granlund.
Sign Hoffman for 1 yr to play with Panarin. If he's looking for a 1 yr, can't imagine a better spot than that to maintain or increase production.
