Nobody hurts Rangers fans more than Rangers fans.

Masochistic obsession is never a good look.

+1 - some have a real meltdown when others don’t agree with them.

i wonder if Kreider was moved for a #1 last season like so many predicted may have positioned the Rangers to make a move for a Towes or part ways with a heavy package for Eichel. Those extra dollars and draft capital could have come in handy if not for those player but for others. Kreid or die though, you got your guy.
Oh look who it is, the poster that no one gets along with. Dont worry I saw you arguing with multiple posters yesterday, per the usual.

But yepp I do got my guy!!! Kreid or die! Ha didn’t even realize that was still there since I put that up years ago. But I am not ashamed of it, he is a Ranger so I will continue to support him although if he was moved last season then so be it. Soon enough you will be having conversations with yourself around here.

If we really wanted to ante up for Toews or Eichel, we really, in the worst way, need to do something about 1LD. We go no where without it and don’t tell me one of our prospects is automatically a 1LD.

I don't disagree about the blueline...even if that guy is in the system none of them are ready yet. that said there is a huge difference between saying Toews or Eichel would look good here and being willing to 'ante up' or be 'all in'...I mean if you ignore the cost to get him (and cap hit) for a second, you'd be hard pressed to find a more perfect guy in the short term for us than Toews. He's still a 1C, he's good defensively/pks, great on faceoffs...and as far as filling our need of a veteran leader who can teach the young team how to win, a guy who won 3 cups as captain would basically be this generations version of messier in terms of bring that experience and leadership...all that said though there is close to 0% chance that I'd actually be willing to pay what the hawks would ask. lol

i have quite a fan base around here. Love Kreider and the cap does exist and has existed for sometime. J.D. and Gorton clarified that for you after we did.

bak afta dis

Really need strome and lemieux to be decided on so some of these proposals can stop.

the tide will turn is my guess. Loaded market with many hoping for more today will turn into many sprinting back for employment once somebody signs for less. Something is better than nothing.

It wouldn't be my ideal choice, but I could see management figuring out a one-year deal with Strome, re-signing Lemieux, and calling it an offseason. I'm going to guess that most teams are cash-strapped with the current economic environment and are going to be ask risk-averse as possible for a shortened season. A lot of this lineup is banking on internal improvement from guys and hoping that the play-in series will push us to play a more structured game. I'm including additional forwards/defenders that I think are next in line for respective spots.

Kreider-Zibanejad-Buch
Panarin-Chytil/Strome-Kakko
Lafreniere-Chytil/Strome-Gauthier
Lemieux-Howden-Rooney

Next in line: Barron, Blackwell, Gettinger, Khodorenko, and Richards.

I could also see this lineup involving some shifting of forwards around, i.e., Kreider to RW to accommodate Lafreniere in the top-6 or to 3LW to balance out the top-9. It still needs work, but it'll do as a transition roster that can and should compete for a wild card spot. This team is going to go as far as Shesty and Geo carry them.

Lindgren-Trouba
Hajek-Fox
Smith-DeAngelo
Bittetto
Johnson

Next in line: K'Andre, Reunanen, and Robertson. As much as I want K'Andre to make the team out of camp, I can see management trying to give him specific learning assignments in Hartford to get him up to pro-hockey speed before giving him his first call up. They've done the same with DeAngelo, Lindgren, Pionk, and Skjei.

Guys like Bitetto and Johnson suck, but they'll see time in the lineup at some point. Not going to waste time arguing it since I know it's an inevitability. One bright spot with Bitetto: he did have over 100min against elite competition last year and managed to have a positive DFF%rel and GF%rel. Obviously a very cherry-picked stat, but hey, I'm at least trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. Banana Pancakes is maybe better than Staal, so at least he has that going for him.

Shesterkin
Georgiev

great post and hits on everything.

I think both Strome and Lemieux will be back. I don’t see Strome for more than one year b/c the lottery win and Covid changed the budget. The timing of Kreider contract hurts him too.

no idea how the NHL is going to pull this off. The Rangers will lose money yet could afford it.

Start the season in April?

Has there been any news recently on AHL plans?

They could do what MLB did, simply send their "taxi squad" at the AHL location and have them train/practice without playing any games.

Obviously not ideal, but not sure what the other option is.

The nhl teams are just going to have to mitigate the losses of the AHL teams who lets face it pull in what 5k fans anyway on a good night? Mostly? They have to play AHl games regionally. They only play on the weekends most of the time as it is. They’ll figure that out.

but they have to start soon too many good young prospects and players not developing right now can set the whole league back. Again the virus is not going away anytime soon. Full buildings aren’t happening anytime soon and that’s even if a vaccine was released today.

most likely you’ll have to show proof of vaccination to get into an arena when it’s all said and done.

By the way this would be a real depressing offseason if we hadn’t won first overall and Lafrenière.

I mean we did nothing. Replaced Staal and McKegg with Rooney and Johnson

watch Hank and Fast walk away (a good thing)

but talk about uninspiring. We would not have done anything other than hope some guys developed.

Laf made a huge difference but i’m fine and i’m thinking many are fine with the rebuild. Hoping guys develop! Ah, yeah. Would be great to see kravtsov and miller start their careers with Kakko and Fox taking the next step IMO.

ugh, who could trust a vaccine so early? What a mess

well thats the thing half of America won’t take it you know that.

secondly the vaccine isn’t a 100% cure all immunity card. It will be similar to the flu vaccine in terms of effectiveness.

And it will take a year minimum to be widely available.

so it will still be with us even after that. And then you have to think hey is it worth it to go to a game risk my health or spend money so many don’t have now or safely watch on my giant 4K tv.

Sitting and waiting for it to go away from an NHL standpoint is silly. They need to keep their product viable and in front of their fan base whether they are at home or in person or they’ll be in even worse trouble a year from now.

Imo missing January 1 winter classic (pick a place that will allow 25% capacity) is a huge mistake. It’s their biggest tv draw every year
