Especially since you're at 24 players right now with your RFAs. If you sign someone else, you have a bunch of other contracts to bury to create more room. They need at least $1MM in operating room so take that down to $3.8MM. Plenty or room for a target of opportunity if it presents itself.
LV mgmt didn’t do that locker room any favors. There will be some resentment. I love McPhee for old tymes sake but they’ve been ruthless.I’m guessing the Florida rumor we heard was a handshake, but that turned ugly once Pietrangelo stalled overnight. I’m guessing we see Schmidt to Florida within hours.
Pietrangelo is a competitor, a championship-winner and a team-changer, but that was one of the messier recent transitions I remember seeing.LV mgmt didn’t do that locker room any favors. There will be some resentment. I love McPhee for old tymes sake but they’ve been ruthless.
If it becomes really really tight, you can carry 12 F because of Mr Versatility but it likely means JMFJ hits the iceEspecially since you're at 24 players right now with your RFAs. If you sign someone else, you have a bunch of other contracts to bury to create more room.
If Schmidt is in play, I’d sure be all ears on a three sided deal that would send out DeAngelo on our end. Schmidt is a bona fide first pair defenseman.
Might I link you to thread regarding the "Bonus Cushion"?
AP is great and no doubt will quickly earn his mates respect, but it’s a bit disrespectful to Nate S and potentially others. These guys strike me as being a tight bunch since Exp. They’ve done this several times, trading guys days before their NTCs kick in (fair game but won’t win you friends) and in Haula case like 2 days before his Golden Knight themed wedding.Pietrangelo is a competitor, a championship-winner and a team-changer, but that was one of the messier recent transitions I remember seeing.
What does that have to do with anything if ADA is part of the deal? The salaries will wash almost based off what ADA will likely get.
Problem is a 3 way deal. Very complicated.
ADA is not getting 6M that Schmidt already makes.
Strome will get signed one way or another. Even at 1year/$5M.
We could eat half his salary and ship him off. A contending team would eat that up IMO

Is Nate Schmidt's defense really that spectacular to be considered a first pairing dman? I mean he's 29 and definitely as good as he's gonna be. Highest point total was 36 points in 76 games.
But do the Rangers have the money? If Schmidt is in play, I’d sure be all ears on a three sided deal that would send out DeAngelo on our end. Schmidt is a bona fide first pair defenseman.
yeah the rangers would pass on that if thats what he got in arbitration on a one year deal.never going to happen
Vegas is banking on winning a cup in the next 2 or 3 seasons . The rebuild will come eventually but they want to have a Cup to fall back on.Damn thats a ton of money for AP.
Vegas is banking on him aging like Suter.

I truthfully dont know much about Schmidt. Any comp? If he's a 1LD we should be checking in.If Schmidt is in play, I’d sure be all ears on a three sided deal that would send out DeAngelo on our end. Schmidt is a bona fide first pair defenseman.
He’s 29 already and sigh for 5 more seasons IIRC. Seems like classic bad Rangers dman contract in the near future. I’d stay way.I've been saying this for a few weeks. He is a very solid all around Dean. Hed be a perfect partner for Trouba.
He's pretty much the opposite of Jenko but they work well together.I truthfully dont know much about Schmidt. Any comp? If he's a 1LD we should be checking in.
