I mean the Caps kept running Holtby out there this year in the playoffs, I would expect Hank to think he can be the starter.

People think Hank is done but Holtby had an .897 while being used as the starter on a team that isn't amazing defensively but is far better than the Rangers. I have literally zero doubt that Hank would be an upgrade on the Holtby of last season.

Sergachev lives a very sheltered life behind Hedman and McDonagh. We don't really have a good idea how good (or bad) he'd be with an increased role against the best players on the other side.

Similar to how Trouba shelters Fox and DeAngelo.

I know we are hoping Strome nets a 2nd but with so many players being bought out, not qualified or set to be UFA, combined with the flat cap and financial uncertainty I dont see a team paying up.

If you want to negotiate a multiyear dear with Strome, it makes sense to hold off on making a QO. If he accepts, he guarantees that he is UFA next summer. Negotiations are over. That could be a motivation here or if someone wants to trade for him.

If he accepts he can't get a higher number. He likely wants more than the qo. If he goes to arbitration he could probably get more for 1/2 years.

he is ok. could be worse options. not a bad depth guy. does he take faceoffs? not familiar with him too much
