Can we actually wait for Kravstov to play one single second of NHL time before we deem him ready to replace a player who have you top line production last year? Same with Barron. You HOPE that the third line role, you have no idea if he is even ready to play in the NHL. He should also be able to beat out a Lemieux, instead of planning on it?

Also, there is absolutely any guarantee that Kreider can switch wings?

Lastly, before you actually have Kakko leapfrog Buchnevich, can he actually outperform him in camp?

this is pretty typical for you. Kravtsov isn’t even in that lineup yet but you found a reason to complain I rushed him into replacing a player lol.

Barron is going to be on this team. Rangers did not convince him to sign to go to the AHL. I can pretty much guarantee you that. But if you want to flip him with Lemieux go ahead makes no difference .

And as has been pointed out many times including the very last game they played. Kreider has switched over to right wing multiple times without issue.

That's all you got out of that?

He could be center and have less pressure/develop with Cirelli. I dont see the problem.

Things are not given, they're earned. Up to this point, no matter how many reasons you list, he has not earned it. If he comes into camp, and earns it. GREAT. We're now stacked at Center. I dont understand the issue?

There’s a salary cap. If Chytil does this year what cirelli did in Tampa last year you now have a guy you have to pay big money to and nowhere for him to play because you jumped the gun and went after a cirelli losing assets in the process instead of waiting for a rebuilding team to actually REBUILD

Wennberg depending on contract Verhaeghe, Hinostroza too.

I'd go no on Turris, Koivu

Ok, but we have Deangelo and we do not have Morrissey.

I don’t get your suggestion that a Deangelo/Trouba pairing can’t do well. Why? Deangelo was able to do very well even while paired with Staal. Trouba did fine though paired with Smith.

It doesn’t make any sense that if paired together somehow one or both will start sucking. If that’s the case, then they aren’t worth their contracts (future, in Deangelo’s case).
I think it’s been said many many times that the team doesn’t want to play D on the off wing

Here's a point that's been overlooked re: off-season moves. Everyone is focusing on the very glaring needs at C and LD. But with the addition of Laf to guys like Zib, Panarin, Kakko, Chytil, Fox -- I think the team is going to bring in an enforcer. And focus on grit a bit. The draft hinted at what they see as a big problem down the road and right now. Not only do they think we need to be hard to play against. But with all the big time talent on the roster, we need to make sure we can protect them, esp if we make the playoffs.

Keep in mind, the thing that makes Laf a little diff than most of our forwards, he will force his way inside. He won't shy away. He will take abuse. He will cause some scrums as a result. I think a guy who can throw down will be added to the roster whether we like it or not.
List of players who still fit this description:

-Ryan Reaves

End of list.

I can't wait for Rangers fans to cry because a skilled guy like Laf will drop the gloves. I guess they did not remember guys like Graves Messier and Lindros (flyers version lol)

The Rangers are not going to want Lafreniere to be fighting and FWIW go over to hockeyfights.com and plug Lafreniere's name in and see how many fights he's had.....I'll save you the time it's 0. Pushing back and or getting into scrums isn't the same thing.

Messier didn't fight very much either and he was very average when he did. What Messier had was a bit of unpredictability that in today's game would have him suspended two or three times every year. Let's not gild the pill--I loved him at least the first time around but he was great at stick swinging and spearing, elbowing someone in the chops or blind sided hits. He was a sneaky and dirty player in an era where overt hockey violence was a given and Graves often had to clean up after him. But there were also guys like Domi, Langdon and the very fear inspiring Kocur.

As long as he ain't dropping gloves out of his weight class a-la Svechnikov v. Ovie. People are gonna learn real quick that Lafreniere is more than just a "skill guy". He plays with a snarl, Svechnikov isn't the worst comparable in that catagory tbh and I love that.

Cirelli was always a stud defensively, from his first NHL game. Chytil is not that.

I understand Chytil has potential. To think he will reach that potential next season is faulty IMO. If he had a play-in like Kakko, where you saw MAJOR growth/improvement, I'd be understanding. It doesn't mean he cant grow or improve to that extent, it is just unlikely.

My brain is totally fried with the cap this year, which I guess is fine because our situation is super complicated with all the bonuses and the buyouts. Do they even have enough money to bring back Tony, Strome and Fast, assuming they get like...5, 4, and 3 respectively just to make the math easy?

The opposite has been said a few times as well from other, more official sources.

Is it reasonable to think they would trade a top-five in the league offensive defenseman, almost certainly for a lesser return, before giving it a shot on the off-side?

I personally don’t believe it.

the guy made $1.65 million last season and Ottawa let him walk. Is that an indication of how bad Ottawa’s finances are or how bad DuClair’s overall game is?
It’s the same issue with him over and over. Has offensive talent and An NHL body and speed but he does not play defense at all. In fact he looks disinterested even trying to back check. Was a major problem when he was with the jackets long ago and has not gotten any better. If there’s no will to develop the defensive side of the puck he will just keep bouncing from bottom feeder to bottom feeder putting up ok numbers because he’s getting minutes on losing teams

that’s my thinking. He’s playing Pond Hockey.

Nick Cousins would be an excellent pickup, as would Craig Smith if the price is within a reasonable amount.

I wanted Cousins last year. one of the most underrated players in the league in my opinion

give me Cousins Clifford (need more grit, has 2 cups) and Wennberg

on defense. i rather have a rookie like Miller make it. maybe he does not go to Hartford at all
