my updated sheet of the NYR system. colors reflect different status*, players sorted within position by age

The arbitrary choice to follow/include a few of the UFAs, while removing most of them, is purely subjective on my part

Robertson could have his own, as NHL signed Junior ...

Time to overpay for missing pieces. We have an abundance of talent and prospects.

Get the player we want. Whether its LHD or Center. No Glenn Sather reclamation type projects.

so should NYR add a couple of the cut-loose ~25-year-old, non-star, F's like Kahun, Wennberg, Simon, DuClair, Jankowski, Caggiula, Gauthier, Bracco, ...

They can still be traded for 2021 picks, though I don't see Buch getting traded. ADA could still go for NHL players.
If they are moved, it will be for players who can step in right away. Or at least are on the cusp of being able to step in right away.

Strome for a 2021 2nd, mid-tier prospect
Buchnevich, DeAngelo, Howden for Hanifin, Monahan

UFA

Larsson 2 x 2.25m AAV
Hinnostroza 2 x 1.5m AAV
Stecher 1 x 1.25m AAV

Kreider Zibanejad Kakko
Panarin Monahan Gauthier
Lafreniere Chytil Kravtsov
Lemieux Larsson Hinnostroza
PDG/Barron

Hanifin Fox
Lindgren Trouba
(rookie) Stecher
Smith

( ) : could be any of: Miller, Hajek, Reunanen

If the plan is to become more difficult to play against, a guy like Clifford who has good underlying stats and will battle anyone would be a real solid addition to the 4th line. So would Girgensons who is a bigger body and doesn't shy away from mucking it up.
I would take either of them. Easily.

Vegas needs to clear salary and has talked about trading Fleury with assets and retaining money.
So I thought just for fun, I'd put together a deal where we took on Fleury and picked up some extra assets...

DeAngelo
Georgiev
Hajek

for

Fleury 50% retained
Glass
Krebs
1st
Reaves or McNabb

I don't know how I feel about this trade from the Rangers side of things, but I think adding Glass, Krebs and a 1st would boost our system even more and seems worth it taking on half of Fleury's contract to do so.

Just get Wennberg here. We need help at C and he has produced in the NHL. Maybe he can reach respectable levels again as a #2 or #3 center here.

Wennberg will be bought out it now is official.

definitely a good fit here at 3C/4C that’s a move that makes sense. Defensively responsible great pker can give you 20 to 25 pts. Big kid. This one will be interesting

I'd have a really hard time seeing the team rolling into the season with that RW group. I think if they move Buch in a trade they'll go after some sort of vet on a short-term contract.

At first I thought you meant Tanner Glass — in which case no way in hell. The deal is otherwise intriguing. At this point Hajek seems like a bust. Doubt ADA will be here much longer. But I do feel we are downgrading in net and praying for that first to pan out. Not too keen on the deal, but it does have some merit.

Turris, to me, would be a real nice addition as a guy who can slide from RW --> C. And he is a shoot first player, something that will mesh well here.

Turris is very much not a shoot first player.

I'm pretty sure Turris is just plain bad these days. He's real bad defensively. He doesn't shoot at all. The offense hasn't really been there since 2016-2017 and his point totals then were largely a function of playing 19:30+ per game.

I'd rather sign some combo of Wennberg, Cousins, Jankowski, Rodrigues, Larsson etc.

Value aside, I don't think Vegas would sacrifice basically their entire future. That would be a hell of an all in. I think they would prefer Pietrangelo over ADA but they are at a catch 22 because they need to move cap to be able to sign him.
