Buffalo, Florida, Phoenix, Nashville...how's Carolina doing? Anaheim? Still teams we've kinda been talking about before

St Louis?

Kinda just throwing crap out there but trying to figure out how to think outside the box on this stuff but also am exhausted and brain not working lol

Nashville is interesting to me because of how underwhelming they were last year.

Thats a team that may be there for the take.

As much as I like Sergachev, I can’t help but think he’d be the wrong fit for what we’re trying to build here. Unless they’re moving Tony, he isn’t going to be the primary PPQB, and I don’t think he’s ready for a top match-up role next to Trouba. He’s going to be paid a lot on his next deal, and I don’t want to get caught paying a guy that much to be a high-end second-pairing dman.

I’m also not willing to pay the cost that Tampa will want for him. He’s a really good player, but I just don’t see the fit here.

Ya, I would imagine Poile has a few bad value trades left in him to get this Preds team across the line before he retires or gets booted.

I'll preface this by saying he said about 5 asinine things prior to this, but I'm listening to Pierre on 690 today and he was gushing about Fast. "Oh my gosh, he would be one of the most important people you could add. Tremendous character person...very very good player...can play as a 1st line player, can play as a 4th line player, elite penalty killer...he's someone I respect tremendously as an NHL player."

Try to gush for even 3 seconds about Trouba. You can't.

Kind of where I'm at with Sergachev as well. Tremendously talented player. Tons of things to like there but is he the kind of guy you can see eating 25 minutes a night in big games with Trouba or is he at his best when he's on a 2nd pairing getting more favorable match ups? Part of me can see him being the latter. He and Cernak had some dominant shifts together and I think all of the tools are there. But part of me feels like I'm projecting too much.

Can't see him and ADA on the same blue line though. As you mentioned the minutes just don't work out. Particularly on the power play.

Contract wise, again, I could easily see it going either way. Offer him a something like $6.5 x 6 and if he hits he's one of the best bargains in the NHL. If he stagnates, he's a pretty seriously overpaid 2nd pairing guy who eats PP minutes.

Trade wise I think we'd have to give up Lundkvist and that throws a big wrench into things on the right-side. Then again, is that the end of the world if the Rangers have to find a veteran RD because they dealt both ADA and Lundkvist?

Usually I can get comfortable one way or another with a player and the trade but this one really has me going back and forth.

You seem more concerned about Trouba than the Rangers team.

Getting kind of corny, bruh.

Well DeAngelo doesn't help them out of their jam unless we also take back another contract. Lundkvist and Chytil is a lot to pay when you consider we do have a pretty good LHD pipeline and we're very shallow at center.

I think TDA and 22 for Sergachev and Gourde was thrown out in the last thread. Something like that is the only way the cap implications work out for Tampa.
For sure. I mostly just wanted to distract people from the McDonagh talk.

...or just got finished watching this Jets Broncos game.

That game was straight up f***ing painful to watch. Fortunately I did some NHL CHEL Drop-in tonight and went from a 910CR to like an 845.

This f***ing thread lmao.

everyone needs a day off.

This thread is like Vegas. You visit it and you automatically have herpes, without even touching someone.

Edit: I’ve never been to Vegas. Lol.

Well don’t go!
I hear you can automatically have herpes, without even touching someone there.

I liked Yandle when he played here, he brought a lot of offense from the blue line, which is something we had none of at the time. Now, it’s redundant.

Don’t forget he was a bit of a liability in his end. I don’t think things have changed much since being in Florida. If we’re grabbing a LD, I would hope it would be a better all around defenseman.

I wonder if Florida entertains trading Barkov. Only two years left on his deal and with Florida in disarray he might look to move. If so, better to trade him sooner than later when he’s a pure rental.

Pure speculation, just trying to think of outside the box LD’s and C’s.
