I know I’m in the minority but put me in the boring don’t make a big splash camp.
I don’t wanna do anything stupid.
Getting Lafreniere and number 22 in 6 days is more than enough excitement right now.
Just get fair short term deals done with strome and ADA. Maybe Fast too.
I mean thats most likely whats going to happen. We didn't really have money to sign our own free agents, now we do. Boring but practical.

I would hesitate to trade for another Offensive dman that just played all their minutes behind Hedman and McD. Sergachev will cost too much.

is yanni gourde an option here? I know he has a ntc, but freidman reported JB has already talked to the team to determine the guys with ntc's that are willing to waive.

I don't think Tampa and NYR make good trade partners at this time. These guys have a lot of fresh hard miles. Maybe a kid that didn't play? But the Rangers are loaded on the wings.

Tampa has a couple of get out of jail free cards.

I think the exact opposite. We have cheap talent. They have a cap crunch. I'd gladly take Cirelli

I haven't really looked, but how many teams around the league are in position to absorb a 5 mil or more contract right now after taking care of their own guys? I honestly don't know the answer to this. Wondering where TBL are going to sell to, obviously detroit is a place you can see some guys going to, but where else?

The other thing to note here is that I'd really only be interested in this move if it meant we had sent Tony elsewhere for a 2C. And of course, the Lightning make him available.

Sergachev is a replacement for some of that offensive production you are losing with Tony. He plays the left side, and can PK and can continue to develop a 2-way game. He's younger and would be a much more logical long-term investment for the organization.

So Tony for a 2c and then Kravtsov + 22 + Jones/Robertson/Hajek for Sergachev?

I think at the end of the day we would be a stronger team than moving assets for a guy like Dunn or signing a UFA. More assets spent, yes but a move for Sergachev has a much higher reward and is a long term investment.

Mentioned it in another post but I don't think any conversation for Sergachev happens without Lundkvist on the table. Which of course throws a big wrench into the ADA back-up plan.

Dunn might be more in line with what the team is looking for but if Pietrangelo leaves he might be taken off the market.

The Eichel to NYR links make sense. David Quinn was his coach at BU. He knows the player well. The Rangers are on an upward trajectory. Eichel wants to win. With Panarin, Lafreniere, Kakko, and Zibanejad also on the team, he doesn't have to be "the guy", even if it seems that he has the personality that he would bask in the opportunity under the big city lights.

Bobby Mac always gets good nuggets pertaining to NYR rumors. He always knows who the Rangers are taking in the draft a minute before they go to the podium. This nugget with Eichel and many others before. He has a source in the Rangers organization that is high up there. That being said, I wonder if Bobby Mac's Rangers source leaked the Eichel stuff on purpose to get another team to lower their ask on another center, as if to say "we have other options here". This screams Barkov to me, and frankly, I'm for it. Both Eichel and Barkov are stars, but Barkov is absolutely more of a need for the roster composition and make up of this team. It's an open secret that Florida was hemorrhaging money pre-COVID. I can't imagine now.

You can put a flag on the apex of the build on that day. I mean if you can still manage to get picks... you get have your cake and eat it too.

It's interesting, with this time being the off-season, and with the Rangers being were they are... I'm running through quite a few things... JMHO.... I like the forest I see through these trees. Barkov's a hell of a player. A hell of a player. As is Eich. So hat's not to like?

I am really not understanding the rush for a second line center. You already have one here that works with Panarin and have (hopefully) another one that in the wings, developing.

Plus, whomever you trade DeAngelo for to play 2C is probably going to cost you more than the one you have right now.

I don't think that the cap room is meant for big UFAs. I think that it is there for a possible LD to play with Trouba (looking at you, Mr. Dillon) and to resign some of their own players.

I somehow do not think that 2C is a priority for them as far as UFAs go.

right, but if a trade came along for a better upgrade at center than Strome, they just wouldn't sign Strome and would trade him. just saying 23M is a lot to work with even with the dead cap.

See, this is where I have to give credit to JG. He got out in front of the market. The cost to dump contracts is only going to go up.

We have 23 mil in cap space, with the following to sign:

Strome: 5 mil
DeAngelo: 5 mil
Fast: 3 mil
Georgiev: 1.5 mil
Lemieux: 1.5 mil
Lafreniere: 925k

That gives us 12 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies. We need to add 2 more dmen (with Smith being the lone spare).

Assuming my estimates are correct, that's a total of 16.925 mil, and we will likely have another 4 mil used due to us exceeding the bonus cushion. That leaves us with 2 mil to sign/promote 2 dmen.

If Fast isn't resigned, and instead replaced for about 1 mil, then we have a bit more to work with. Otherwise, any trades will likely involve roughly equal money in and out.

Yeah, but we also assume they want to keep everyone. maybe they want to move ADA and can get a 2C or a LHD (since we have a lot of RHD), maybe they find a better upgrade than Strome. I really dont think all these guys are coming back
