Krug is one of the most sheltered Dmen in the game.

OEL is far better fit and addresses a need for Bruins.

As long as the price isn't crazy

OEL- McAvoy
Grzelcyk- Carlo
Makes for a beast top4

If I'm not mistaken OEL is realllllly overrated these days

Maybe it's a byproduct of being on Arizona but his analytics have been trending downward alarmingly.

first off we are assuming that his agent and the sabres aren't lying lol.

but I highly doubt teams are getting random calls about their untouchable players...but more likely teams hear rumbling that a player is unhappy and wants to be moved or the team is looking to make changes so they 'check in'. it wouldn't be hard to believe that eichel is unhappy there...
Right, Gorton didn’t wake up one day and say “Hey let me ring Kev and try to pry Eichel out of there.”

agreed. You want to talk about Tony for #6 straight up? Ok I’m listening. In fact I might even still listen if it’s tony and 22 for their 6th and 2nd rounder. But 22 and tony for 6?

no that’s too much

I mean even then I don't love it. If you look at the last few deals that involved top-10 picks for NHL players they're as follows:

1. Stepan and Raanta for #7 and TDA. Stepan was a pretty good top-six center who had some term but was hardly an elite talent. Raanta had starter potential but was unproven.
2. Jordan Staal for Brandon Sutter, Brian Dumolin, and #8
3. Schneider for #9

These picks don't get traded that often and when they do they rarely return the high-end talent people expect them to. There's a premium on proven players that fans don't seem to pay attention to.

I have to believe there is something there.
I’m guessing we might see movement on this “non story”.
My feeling is that it's an opening salvo. Rangers know he might become available at some point. 99% not until next season but I do believe that it's a smoke/fire situation. Just that it's not a raging fire yet but a few embers looking to spark. I have had a feeling that Eichel will become available at some point in his career for awhile now. I do believe Jack is trying to do right by the team and not try to hurt them in trade value but any sane person could see why he'd want out. That team is going to continue to be bad for quite some time. They really don't have a great farm, they can't attract free agents and their owner wants to cut costs. A year from now, we'll see what happens.

However, I can't help but have this sinking feeling in my stomach that Gorton is gearing up for SOMETHING. Getting rid of Staal is something that I didn't think would ever happen, especially when the contract would have just come off the books for free in a year. They didn't have to get rid of him and contrary to the fans I believe the team and coaching staff liked him. I'm not saying JG is gearing up for Eichel right now, but something? And I think it's bigger than someone like Lindholm because they most likely didn't have to buy out Henrik AND trade Staal to fit him in. Couple that with them fielding calls on two guys who need to get paid - Strome and Tony. Again, just a feeling. Most likely they'll just re-sign their guys or try to bring some more young guys in.

I think ADA for 6th would be dumb. If I'm picking 6th overall I'd be ecstatic if the selection developed into a player of Tony's caliber. Because he's about to be making $5m on the 3rd pairing, the Rangers definitely should be exploring their options. But any deal ought to be a hockey trade to address areas of need on the NHL roster.

When Stamkos first played in the NHL at 18 years old in 2008, Tampa had Lecavalier as a 28 year old.

The 10 year age difference between those two players is going to be about the same as Panarin, Zbad, Kreider to Kakko, Laf.

If I were the Rangers I'd be pretty careful about which age grouping to be primarily supporting.
28 year old Lecavlier is not even close to 27 year old Zib or 29 year old Panarin. These are elite guys and like I said earlier one is getting better every season and the other has a game where he should be elite well into his 30s.

Couldn't have said it any better myself.

It isn't that we shouldn't explore our options with him. But trading him for a straight up draft pick? Nope.

I heard something earlier today about Nashville considering whether to trade one of their centers. It’s most likely regarding Turris but the article didn’t specify. I doubt they’d trade Duchene one year after signing him. Any interest in Ryan Johansen? He’s locked up for 5 more years at 8 million AAV through his age 33 season. It might be a. tight crunch in year 4-5 but years 1-3 should be doable. Hopefully the cap goes up by then the back end of the deal. Something around some of the following: ADA, 22 OA, Miller, plus other prospects. Maybe they take Smith and/or Strome back to help our cap this season? They might be interested in Georgiev as well. I’d imagine part of Nashville’s incentive is to clear out real money.

Just a thought...

Miller/ADA as pieces for Ryan Johansen? Nah.

I could see Howden, Smith, and the 22nd pick. If Nashville retains.

I would not trade a single thing for Ryan Johansen as I believe he has negative value at $8M.

He must have diminished a lot recently. I always considered him a legit 1B center. I figured he’d be a good fit next to Panarin. I also like that his contract run out at 33 and not 36-37.

I saw the rumor that they were willing to trade down that came out of 31 Thoughts. Where's the rumor that they're willing to trade it outright?

They're supposedly interested in Laine as well. I don't think the Ducks are hunkering down for a multi-year rebuild even though their fans seem to think they are. They're not going to waste the prime years of Gibson, Lindholm, etc, just to trade everything that isn't bolted down for draft picks.
They only have Lindholm under contract for two more years. That's not a big window.

It astounds me how terrible some NHL organizations are. Peter Chiarelli is arguably one of the worst GMs ever, fired by the Oilers. Okay great let's bring in someone new to run the show, Ken Holland.

Trades multiple picks for Athanasiou, and after 9 games says "ah don't want him anymore". Plus they're looking at Brady Skjei to fix their defense issues

I mean just embarrassing
