I REALLY don’t want the Rangers to go into the season with Strome on a 1 year deal. It’s an unnecessary distraction. They k OA the player. Make a decision. Keep him around or trade him

Was it anymore of a distraction than Fast or Kreider were this year?

A 1 year deal is a better option than a bad contract or a bad trade.

So how old am I? I cut Roy Sommer as a player many years ago. Talked to him years later and he reminded me what a mistake I made. Great, fun guy.

I had the pleasure of watching a preseason game with him one year between the knights and sharks. Got to impress him a bit with the ole prospect knowledge I gathered here. Haha. He was a really great guy.

Listening to Leafs Lunch got me thinking...

TDA for Morgan Rielly. Let me preface this by saying I think TDA is underrated on here and I've always been lukewarm on Morgan compared to his rep. But I think the swap of the RD for the LD could help both teams and the extra years of cap control for Tony could be attractive to the leafs.

The Leafs laugh you out of the building and you probably aren't invited back ever again.

So some people think it's offensively bad for the Rangers and some think it's offensively bad for the Leafs. Seems like maybe both teams could prefer the other player, under the circumstances.

I think it’s really bad for the Rangers, for whatever that’s worth. No interest in Rielly. If we get a LD it should be a defense-first LD.

Trading DeAngelo for Rielly just because they play different sides? That’s silly. We need a LD that actually plays defense.
There are a lot of reasons why it might make sense, depending on each orgs opinion on each player. But yes the sides thing would be a big factor.

Who do you think we are getting for that LD spot who is better? Rielly finished 5th in Norris last year. He's been a projected Team Canada guy. Again, I'm lukewarm on him based on those accolades. But I'd still be semi-cised. Maybe I'd end up hating him with Trouba-like intensity. But that can happen with any player. No sure things out there.

Rielly getting a 5th place finish for the Norris during the season his numbers were inflated from his norm, having to do with who he plays with in Toronto is the reason we should trade a higher valued asset from our side for him and his subpar defensive play.

And he wouldnt be a candidate for Team Canada, certainly not a strong one.

Rielly is a fine player to have if he's your 3rd best defenseman.

We don't need that type of player. We need LHD who can help us keep pucks out of our net and not murder us in transition.

You don't think there's a difference between being on 3 ballots and being on close to half the ballots (based on this year's 5th placer)?

For all of you who are outraged by this proposal, please ask Leafs fans how interested they'd be in this trade.

There have been a few who have. And most of them are morons who view ADA as a 4th forward who’s a rover and doesn’t play any defense.

The sad thing is, this is how the majority of fanbases view ADA, despite Tony
scoring like 30/60 the season before and actually contributing defensively under Quinn.

ADA needs another monster year to get some of the recognition he ultimately deserves. Until then, he’s just a “PP Specialist” who was a measly 4th in the NHL in EV production.

I love Tony as a player too but if we have to keep the 8 Million dollar Tinordi then something's gotta give on the right side. We all know this.

I hate how the Norris/Hart/Lindsay/etc voting is mostly driven by offensive metrics opposed to a balanced view of offense vs defense (Norris is notorious for this).

Draisaitl didn't deserve being MVP because he is atrocious defensively, but ya know....Most Valuable Points, amirite?
Ironically, the Norris is the only trophy that consistently doesn't do this, and somehow it's the only trophy that gets accused of doing it.

Hockey fans.
