I posted a range that I believe is fair to both sides.

$5m is what it is going to take for even 1 year. So again I ask you, who are you looking to bring in that will play the second line and cost less?

Strome won't get more than 2 years from the Rangers. You can quote me on that.

No. NMC players skip the buy out waivers

Good catch there. So we could still see it today

again I’d think he’d want the full amount of time to prepare and give potential suitors time to prepare to have him in their plans. I don’t see how it helps him to wait for the second window.

I would be very interested in Bobby Ryan if he was willing to sign on the cheap side. He will be getting is $7.25 the next 2 seasons. It would be similar to Shattenkirk signing on the cheap for Tampa. We would to move one of Strome/Buch. Preferably Strome
It would have to be cheap and short, and I wouldn't use it as justification to move Buchnevich.

Chytil just scored at basically the exact same rate that Strome did in his career (other than 14-15). If Chytil isn't ready to center Panarin now then neither was Strome last year.

This is a ridiculous premise. Strome was 26 last year. Chytil is 21.

I'd be surprised if the Rangers executed the buyout on Hank early on. I think they'll wait until the last minute. Perhaps even waiting until the 2nd buy out window if they're planning on taking anyone to arbitration.

If they have an NMC, they can elect to skip the waiver process. They don't automatically bypass having to go on waivers.

Bobby Ryan had an NMC active and he's going on waivers.

Bobby Ryan's contract has a different stipulation. This was highlighted in 2017 when he was not an automatic protection

Indeed. CapFriendly should update stuff like that on their website.

Hank will still likely have the option to go on waivers, pending language. However...like most players with NMC who get bought out...he'll probably just elect to bypass.

The problem is that the actual contracts use words much more complicated than simply NMC or NTC. And the NHL has to go over every contract ahead of the expansion draft to decide on a case-by-case basis.

I'm sure CF would update this if they could, but the actual language is so vague... It's tricky

It’s almost impossible to miss out this year. There’s so many goalies out there it’s crazy. But more than anything. You’d think hank would want the entire time to be available for a team to choose him. So more for him than for NYR. The sooner he’s free to make a decision the better for him
Meh I think the goalie market this summer is being a little overrated as far as who's available. It's a lot of average or even below guys with name recognition.

People are talking about Matt Murray like he wasn't just sub .907 and .899 sv% in two of his last 3 seasons on a top team. He's mediocre. Holtby was garbage ( on a top team for the last 3 years or so. (.911 .907 .897!) Martin Jones? Jimmy Howard? Craig Anderson? Mike Smith?

Markstrom and Lehner are the only two UFA targets I think are legit and Lehner seems to be staying in Vegas and Markstrom is 30 and going to cost a lot. Maybe Greiss if you think he's good outside a Trotz system. Other guys who could be available through trade will cost assets. Georgiev and Jarry are prob the top two trade

I really think Lundqvist on a 1 year 1 million deal or something like that is a better option than many of the goalies available especially bc he would cost basically nothing and that's gold in a flat cap league. Tons of guys available yes, but not many I'd say are much better than Lundqvist if at all. When you factor in how cheap he would come I really think he'd be a strong option for some teams.

QO says less.

you can ask me 100 more times. If you don’t like the answer, asking the same question over and over isn’t going to change it. Without knowing the market how can anybody answer that question? You can’t. You’re going about this thread like Strome is the end all. Maybe he is but we don’t know yet.
Considering you did not actually answer the question, it is rather hard to like or dislike something.

I hardly doubt they do nothing but the qualifying offer.

Not that I am an expert, but if he was on his way to getting 70 points, how can he have missed an increase in his qualifying offer?

It's a bit of a gamble, to be sure, but Chytil's analytics have been quite good, as have his limited stints with top 6 wingers. I think he could very quickly grow into the role if given the opportunity. I like Strome well enough, but his lack of defense, particularly when our back 6 is such a mess/in the middle of being rebuilt, concerns me. I also think, as I said earlier, that if he re-signs, he will quickly become a scapegoat. He's the kind of player you love when they are on a bargain, and I don't think he's looking to be paid as a bargain player after this past season.
I understand. But not sure it is a gamble worth taking. Signing Strome to a 2-4 year deal allows for 1) Chytil to continue to develop and not be thrust into a role he is not ready for 2) have a player that gels and compliments your top player seamlessly on a reasonable contract.

If within the contract time, Chytil has knocked the door down, no sweat. Just move him to the 3rd line. Or have him rove as a wing.

Cannot see anyone being brought in that would cost less.

Yet again, you didn’t like the answer or maybe you don’t understand today isn’t the market end all.

Will do. But seriously, I would be just fine with that. My 2-4 years is just a range.

But if the chips fall properly, I will be quoting you and have another guy that will be eating his tie on video and posting in on the boards.

I don't want Strome on this team and I don’t think he’ll get his QO, but another year at 3.2 million of him is a bargain tbh

Markstrom Fleury Crawford Holtby Murray khudobin Greiss are all for sure better goalies than hank right now at this point. Even with their warts.

Andersen if he’s replaced is a better goalie

Talbot Elliott and Howard will be avail.

Reimer or Mrazek will be avail.

Smith Schneider Miller will be avail

Now how many teams are actually looking for a goalie ANd like him over one of those options?

then After cutting it down there how many of those teams would interest hank?

Minnesota could be an option with zucc. Maybe. If they want to go hank and Dubnyk and move stalock.
San Jose maybe. Jones is awful. Is hank going to one of the worst teams in the league? Detroit?

I just don’t see the contender looking at him to step in.

Disagree with the evaluations here, but Ottawa announced recently that Andersen will not be retained.

That kind of guys back to my original premise of, "Where does Lundkvist go where it actually feels like the extra year was worth it?"

I could a contender wanting him if he signs for $1 million just to get a shot at the ring.

But other than that, you're probably looking at serving as a backup for upper-middle teams, or battling for a starting job with a lower team.
